St. Paul November Newsletter Fall is Here! As you all have probably noticed, the summer weather is gone and the beautiful autumn weather is upon us! As beautiful as the changing of the leaves is, it is much colder! We ask that you ensure that your child has the appropriate clothing for the weather. We plan to continue planning outdoor programming as long as we can so that we can enjoy the last of the nice weather before the winter hits us! This program is an amazing skill that we encourage as many members as possible to join! Remembrance Day Public Speaking Our public speaking program has started again! In this program, members in Grades 4-6 will spend time each week preparing a speech. After 8 weeks, there will be a competition in which they will present their speech. The winners will receive a prize! This year, Ed will be leading our Grade 4-6 members in a discussion about what this really means. MEMBER OF THE MONTH—Amor Although Amor is new to the Club, we have known her here at St. Paul for quite sometime. Her brother, Quincey has been a member of our club for years and we would be greeted by Amor`s smile everyday when she`d come to pick up her brother. Amor is a very talented girl. She is a part of a choir at the Regent Park School of Music and takes tin whistle lessons every Wednesday at St. Paul. We love having Amor in our Club after all these years. Interclub Tournament Congratulations to the team we sent to St. Mary’s for October’s Interclub Tournament for Tchoukball. St. Paul remains undefeated! We will be having another Interclub Tournament on November 23 at St. Mary’s. Permission forms will be sent home the week of. The bus will leave St. Paul at 3:15. We only have a few spots to fill for the team. The team will be chosen by the TKBGC staff at St. Paul based on behaviour, engagement in programs and interest in the tournament. Hopefully we can keep our undefeated record for another month! All members who want to join are welcome. We have spent lots of time at St. Paul working on our chess skills. Now is the time to show the other sites what we can do. Wednesday: Caitlin, Mark Thurdsay: Edward, Caitlin, Mark Friday: Caitlin, Mark, Irvin Spelling Bee Think you’re a good speller? Come and show us how good you are on November 28th. The Spruce site is hosting a spelling bee! Practise spelling bees will be held once a week until then. Important Dates to Remember! Remembrance Day: Nov 11 STAFF OF THE MONTH—Mark R Mark is one of our new staff. He started at the beginning of September, but it feels like he has been here for much longer than that! Mark has worked hard for the last 2 months to get to know our members and provide them with fun and exciting programs. Mark always comes into work ready to do anything, whether it is leading a basketball game, or taking a group on the bus to a game he`s never even heard of (Tchoukball).
