Reaching Ahead
• If you intend to reach ahead you must
choose the course(s) now.
• We will honour all reach ahead selections
completed this February for next year.
• We cannot guarantee reach ahead
timetable changes in September or February
of next year.
Prerequisites & Subject Promotion
• Most grade 12 courses require a grade 11
prerequisite course. Course descriptions and
prerequisites are viewable on our school website.
• Students may not move forward in a compulsory
credit unless they are successful in the previous
grade and level of that compulsory subject.
• Summer School and Night School are available to
redo a course, improve a grade or reach ahead.
• Students can retake a failed course in semester 1
of the next year.

level courses. Co-op is looked upon favourably.

Math is important and co-op is looked upon
favourably.

Online Course Selection Process
• Grade Assemblies and Option Sheet distribution:
February 6th & 7th
• Online Site opens: Monday, January 19th
• Online Site closes: Friday, February 20th
• Online Site may be accessed from school or
home. The site address is on the Option Sheet.
• Once courses are entered, be sure to print off a
Verification Sheet and double check for
accuracy.
Online Course Selection Process
• Once the Verification Sheet is completed, the
student and parent/guardian must sign it.
• Hand in the signed Verification Sheet to the
Semester 2, Period 1 teacher by Friday,
February 20th.
• If you do not have a Semester 2, Period 1 class,
hand the sheet into Student Services.

When choosing courses, consider….
 courses required for pathway destinations
 courses required for postsecondary programs
 subjects that the student excels in and enjoys
 ensuring a well-rounded learning experience
 keep in mind that all students must maintain a full-time
course load
 course choices determine the classes we run in 2015-16
 after the option sheet process is complete, changes are
not always possible as classes are often full
Full Disclosure
• In grade 11 & 12 if you are not doing well in a course
and you don’t think you can get the credit or a
satisfactory mark, you can drop that course.
• Dropping can put you behind the graduation
requirement of 30 credits.
• If you drop a course up to 5 days after midterm
reports then the mark will not show on your
transcript. Full disclosure date is April 30th 2015.
• If you drop afterwards your mark will show on your
transcript.
