PRESS RELEASE 5th AUGUST 2014 WEDGWOOD ANNOUNCES PROJECT TEA COSY WITH BRITISH FASHION COUNCIL’S HEADONISM MILLINERS Sketch by Stephen Jones Wedgwood is excited to announce PROJECT TEA COSY, a creative initiative that forms part of its alliance with the British Fashion Council’s (BFC) millinery programme, BFC Headonism. Wedgwood has invited each of the four Headonism milliners to create a contemporary, and unique tea cosy for a Wedgwood teapot. The designers visited the Wedgwood factory in Barlaston, Stoke on Trent, and were given privileged access to the Wedgwood pattern and china archives. Drawing inspiration from over 250 years’ heritage of craftsmanship and design, they have been asked to apply their own personal aesthetic and manufacturing approach to create a one-off tea cosy masterpiece. Project Tea Cosy will be displayed within the Designer Showrooms at London Fashion Week from 12 th – 16th September 2014. BFC Headonism launched in 2009, during the BFC’s 25 year celebrations by Mayor of London, Boris Johnson and is curated by Stephen Jones OBE. The initiative offers mentoring by renowned milliner Stephen Jones and various showcasing opportunities with installations at London Fashion Week. This year, milliners new to the Headonism showcase are Awon Golding and Lizzie McQuade who will be joining recipients Emma Yeo and Keely Hunter. Sally Warmington, Marketing Director EMEA commented: ‘In inviting the Headonism Milliners to participate in Project Tea Cosy, we offer them the chance to explore the inspirational skills and craft of Wedgwood. We are looking forward to seeing them apply their own design flair and creative skill to a piece that embraces an iconic ceramic form: the Wedgwood Tea Pot. It’s a perfect fit: a tea cosy is to a tea pot what a hat is to a head!’ -ENDSFor press enquiries please contact: Julia Huff | [email protected] | 0207 434 7082 Rachael Jevons | [email protected] | 0207 434 7063 For more information please visit www.wedgwood.co.uk ‘Like’ Wedgwood on Facebook for exclusive content www.facebook.com/WedgwoodUK Follow us on Twitter @Wedgwood_UK and join the conversation #Headonism NOTES TO EDITORS Wedgwood is an iconic English luxury brand established in 1759 that creates premium home, tableware and lifestyle products with the highest quality craftsmanship.
