LITTLE FREE LIBRARY UPDATE The Applewood United Church Executive Committee is looking for interested individuals to make up a yet-to-benamed working group that would consider and make recommendations to the Executive (and/or congregation where appropriate) as to the use of the Ann Graham Memorial Fund, based on input from the Applewood United Church community. This group of approximately 8 members will represent the diversity of life and work at AUC, and would use a consensus model for decision-making. An initial one year commitment is expected, beginning in the fall of 2015. If you are interested in participating in the work of this vital group, please contact Lorne Hassard, General Chair, at 905-990-1927 [email protected] As of Friday June 26 the Little Free Library is installed and operational. At this time we have one library to hold both adult and children’s books. Ongoing plans include either building or ordering a 2nd library to accommodate children’s books. Brochures and a DVD will soon be available and a ribbon-cutting ceremony and some promotions are also planned. At this time I would like to thank the members of the Visioning Committee for their enthusiastic support of this project; Lynda Kudrewatych, Carol Culbert, and Elaine Borlace for their ideas and assistance; and Bryce and Nancy Atkinson, Bob Emerson, and Frank Paiero for the completion and installation of the Library and bench. And thank you to everyone in the congregation for your whole-hearted support of this project. Kathleen Paiero http://environmentaldefence.ca/ Submitted by Christina Mulligan
