Thank You! Thank You! I want to thank every one who prayed and cared for me this past year after I broke my leg and then was diagnosed with cancer. I have completed my 39 radiation treatments, survived the 44 trips to and from Lakewood Ranch and am better for it. I would like to thank all that expressed their concerns and lifted up prayers for me. I especially want to thank my lovely bride of nearly 46 years (August 2, 1969). Sue is a gem that I will never be able to thank enough! Thanks to my wife Judy, who made most of the trips with me and makes every day better. Thank you to our dear friends who were always there Mike & Rosemary Fuller and Dale & Vicki Klopfenstein. Thanks to Bill Newman who made the rest of the trips with me and all those who offered to help drive and helped in other ways.. Last but not least my mom Shirley Heisler who has continued to worry about me for 65 years. Special thanks to the Quilters who made a beautiful lap quilt for me. A big thanks to all! I will remember your kindness always. Gregg Heisler Lot 63 Harold Fox Lot 528 Arcadia Village Quilters-Thank You! My heartfelt THANK YOU for the beautiful lap quilt you sent to me. It has been put to good use after each of my therapy sessions. Your beautiful workmanship and thoughtfulness is very much appreciated. A heart felt THANK YOU to all our wonderful friends and neighbors for all the cards, visits, phone calls and prayers during my surgery and recovery. It was much appreciated by both of us. Don Brown Lot 558 A special thanks to Jim Brannon who was a great help to Cathy in so many way and a wonderful support . Also a big thank you to Bob Harrington for coming to her rescue of an unwanted varmint.. I would like to thank all of the residents that have been so generous in giving me their used plastic bags, used stamps, and box tops and especially the wonderful cards. To the Spencers a most delicious thank you, it gave Cathy a much needed break. We are so fortunate to have so many wonderful friends and neighbors. I was able to send off two boxes of card fronts to St. Jude's Ranch for children. Bless you all, Don & Cathy Brown Lot 558 Thank you, Thank you! Ellen Davis Lot 111 2 Thank You! Thank You! Arcadia Village was our first home when we moved to Florida in 2002. We want to thank all those who supported both of us in the various activities we were involved in during the past 13 years. The families of Gus Nizzi and Jeanette Nicolazzo would like to thank everyone in Arcadia Village for their tremendous outpouring of love and support to Gus during his long battle with cancer. Ron had so much fun with the Horseshoe Guys, he will miss them a lot. (I understand that if we move back to the Village, he will have to try out for the league! He always told new players that they had to be catchers first!) The numerous visits, boxes of cards and tables full of food were wonderful and greatly appreciated by Gus and all of us. Thank you, again, for your caring and support. Carmen Nizzi-Santiago Little did I realize when I offered to proofread for the editor of the newsletter in the fall of 2002, I would become the editor and treasurer the very next year. Since then, we have had three different editors and a couple of summer editors. Many others have helped distribute the newsletter and solicit advertisers. As the village has grown, so as the newsletter. It takes a team and I want to thank all those who volunteered to help. We would like to thank everyone for coming to the country music show on March 26. I want to especially thank John Ward and Helmut Arndt for their help. Also thank you to M.J.Wysocki for selling the Share The Wealth tickets. We have so many great memories since moving to Arcadia Village and we have met so many wonderful people, it was very hard to move. Since we sold our house so quickly, we feel that God has a plan for us just has he did when we ended up in Arcadia. The $125 from the Share The Wealth was donated to the Welcome Wagon Committee. Thanks again! Ray Hicks Lot 38 Thank you for making our years in Arcadia something we will cherish. Ron and Carolyn Lord I wish to thank all those who contributed food items to the memorial service for Gus Nizzi. Condolence So many people turned out to offer condolences and remember him. The Village residents are always so helpful when these special programs are provided. Our condolences, prayers and love go out to the family and friends of: Gus Nizzi A very special note of appreciation to the women who helped in the kitchen with the set-up, service and clean up. Your help is always greatly appreciated. It was a wonderful tribute to Gus. Mike Yeager, Golf Course Commission President VILLAGE PEOPLE Getting to Know You Few sights are stranger than seeing someone ride around in a golf cart with a cat sitting by their side. Meet Sue Mullins and Golden Boy residents of 603 El Conquistador. Sue hails from Bloomington, Indiana by way of Nashville, Tennessee. She first married at the tender age of 16 and is now recently divorced and enjoying her new life. Her last husband, Steve, is credited for introducing her to the guitar which is now her passion. Jim and Mary Brannon introduced her to the "Circle Up Gang" at the Nocatee Civic Center, where you can come see the group on Thursday evenings for acoustic only entertainment. Sue also volunteers at "Lions, Tigers and Bears" where you can visit over 150 animals of 35 species for a small $10 donation. She states it costs $4500 a month to operate this rescue facility. Maybe you have seen some of their animals at the local events. Sue organizes the El Conquistador block parties each year which are always a success. She was instrumental in having folk guitarist Mindy Simmons & the Boyz perform here recently at the Cantina Clubhouse. She loves to travel and plans a road trip in the near future to Alaska with some friends. She states when she goes on cruises she packs a suitcase with toys and will pick a school in need at a port of call to donate them. The thrill is seeing their faces at the gifts. I am sure you agree Sue is an asset to the park. Cindy Brooks Lot 592 9 VILLAGE PEOPLE Getting to Know You If you have ever wondered what that blur was passing by you out around Lake Patty it was Peggy Dees being led by her 3 year old boxer Katie. She has always owned boxers but Katie turned out to be a lot larger than expected. Katie has Peggy wrapped around her paw with her sweet personality. Peggy states she had the perfect childhood with loving parents, growing up in Sarasota then Arcadia with summers being spent at Anna Marie Island. She grew up with horses, cattle and oranges. Riding horses was second nature to her performing in quadrilles (also known as square dancing on horses) and barrel racing in rodeos right up until she married. She then became a real estate broker to help her husband and his associates acquire property in the area. Golf and ballroom dancing were her passion but unfortunately she cannot do them anymore due to foot issues. A hazard of owning horses. Arcadia was always considered home to Peggy so because of health issues and to be close to her daughter she looked at and fell in love with the home she now lives in. She spends her days living the good life enjoying the company of her many friends and her dog. She says she was and is blessed every day with a wonderful childhood, a great husband, two children a grandchild and great grand children. She values her friends and the life she has made for herself. We all should take note that life is too short to sweat the small things and appreciate all that we have to be thankful for.
