2015-2016 Uniform Policy

Appendix A
School Uniform Policy (2015 -‐2016 School Year) Arma Dei Academy requires that each student wear a school-‐approved uniform to enhance the atmosphere of learning, minimize ambiguities, and foster a spirit of camaraderie among the student body. The student is identified with a group that strives for excellence and the policy is established toward that end. Parents should be sure that from head-‐to-‐toe, each of their children is an excellent representative of Arma Dei Academy. We request that students arrive at school with their uniforms in neat, clean, and good condition. Please consult the clothing charts on the following pages for a complete description of the uniform guidelines. Arma Dei Academy will also maintain a ‘Uniform Closet’ where parents may recycle and/or pick-‐up gently worn uniform items. Sally Butler and Karen Hein will oversee this service for the 2015-‐2016 school year. Please email [email protected] with any questions. There are TWO distinctive types of uniforms – Chapel and Everyday. 1 Chapel Dress Arma Dei Academy students attend a weekly school-‐wide chapel service. On chapel days the students MUST follow the guidelines for the appropriate attire. Item Boys Pants Girls •

General Guidelines • All other uniform items may be purchased at the store of your choice. • Non-‐logoed white polos may be purchased at the store of your choice, however, we have noted that dry-‐fit fabric shirts remain wrinkle-‐free and reveal less wear and tear over time. • All boys must wear shirts tucked in. • Skirt/Skort/Jumper length is not to be shorter than 3” above the knee. • On cold weather days, students may wear outerwear jackets to and from school and outside during recess and lunch. However, students MUST wear only the approved jackets, vests or sweaters in the classroom. • No hats or hoods permitted to be worn in the classroom. • Suitability of all uniforms and any infractions will be monitored and addressed via uniform violation policy (see attached document). • Please clearly label (with a permanent marker) every item of clothing with your student’s name prior to the first day of school. Field Trip Attire Teachers will inform students and families in a timely manner regarding the proper attire to wear on a school field trip. 4 PE Uniform All 5th -‐8th grade students MUST change into an approved PE uniform for athletics. PE uniforms include an Arma Dei Academy logoed P.E. shirt and black shorts or plain black sweat pants (no yoga or tight fitting work-‐out pants). P.E. shirts must be purchased through the front desk. Hair and Hair Ornaments •
Hair Accessories -‐ hair accessories such as hairbands, ribbons, barrettes, bows and clips should reflect a spirit of modesty and remain within the school colors of hunter green, navy blue, white, and gray. •
Hairstyles and length -‐ All Arma Dei Academy students should wear their hair in conservative styles with natural hair colors. •
Boys’ Hair -‐ must be above the collar and above the eyebrows. Hair must NOT cover the ears; sideburns must be no longer than mid-‐ear. •
Shaving – boys will be expected to maintain a clean-‐shaven appearance for school. Jewelry Arma Dei Academy students may wear a watch (alarms turned off please), and/or a conservative necklace worn under the shirt. •
Girls -‐ may wear one pair of earrings at any one time even if their ears have multiple piercings. These earrings must adhere to a spirit of modesty and not be a source of distraction. Girls are permitted to wear ‘dangly’ earrings as long as they do not hang below their chin. Girls may wear one ring per hand. •
Boys -‐ may not wear earrings at any time and one ring on one hand only. Make-‐Up/ Nail Polish Girls Only -‐ make-‐up may only be worn by School of Logic (6th grade-‐8th) girls and above and MUST be minimal, natural looking, and light in color. All grades are permitted to wear natural colored nail polish – no flamboyant colors. 5 Uniform Violation Policy: 1. First violation, student will receive an oral warning and parents will be notified via email or phone call from the school. 2. Second violation, student will receive a written warning, which must be returned to school the next day with parent signature. Parent will also receive an email or phone call. 3.
