Summer 2015 Course: W58 Drawing with Ink Date of Course: Wednesday July 22 – Aug 26 Time: 7- 9 pm Instructor: Michael Gallant . Course Description This introductory class teaches students how to handle the challenging but versatile medium of pen & ink through detailed instruction and hands-on exercises. Pen & ink is certainly not the easiest artist technique to work with, but it can be one of the most beautiful. All levels welcome. Objective This workshop is designed to introduce students to pen & ink, and give them confidence with this traditional drawing technique. Materials Pencils: 2H, HB Eraser Micron Pen: 0.35 mm India Ink Crow quill penholder Crow quill nibs: standard and fine Sketchbook (at least 9” x 12”) Good quality Paper Brush(es): watercolour or any “short handle” brush will do, but if you have to pick some up at an art store, Nobel’s “Round red sable brushes: set of 3” are good. For the first class you will need a pencil, an eraser, a micron pen, and a sketchbook. Workshops First Class: Introduction to technique, materials. Second Class: Rendering with pen & ink, quill pen.
