Artist Proof Studio (APS) is an Arts Education Centre that specializes in printmaking through a variety of diverse partnerships with young artists, established professionals, community groups, patrons and funders. APS Gallery We take a multi-disciplinary approach to arts training, emphasizing life skills alongside art education with a view to long-term empowerment. The impact of our outreach programmes demonstrates how effectively the arts can be used to heal, raise awareness and change negative attitudes. Third-year students and graduates are offered work placements in several of these projects, thus providing a direct link between our outreach activities and our educational and vocational programmes. The Special Projects Unit comprises of various branches including the APS National Paper Prayers Campaign. There are four different units at the Artist Proof Studio, which are managed by a Business Manager, a Finance Manager and an effective Administration and Communication team. The four units include the Professional Print Shop (Pro-Print Studio), the Gallery, the Special Projects Unit and the Education Unit. Education Unit Special Projects Unit As part of a multi-faceted outreach programme, the APS houses a women’s income-generating initiative once a week. The group is called Ikageng (Building Ourselves) consists of 7 women. Together, we have developed an exciting range of felt handmade animals and toys. Professional Print Shop Our felt products are sold directly through the APS and are available at selected retail stores around the country. Sales of the Paper Prayers products go back into the APS to support a variety of initiatives through our Outreach Unit.
