Use only the yarn specified. Other yarns are likely to produce
different results.
Quantities are approximate as they can vary between knitters.
Check the ball bands to ensure all yarn is from the same dye lot.
• a set of 4.00mm (UK 8) double-pointed knitting
needles for Beanie and a pair 4.00mm knitting
needles for Short or Long Scarf or size needed
to give correct tension.
• wool needle for sewing in ends.
• cardboard and crochet hook for Short Scarf fringe.
TENSION
22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using
4.00mm needles.
To work a tension square, using 4.00mm needles, cast on
33 sts.
Work 44 rows stocking st. Cast off loosely.
Check your tension carefully.
If less sts to 10cm use smaller needles, if more sts use
bigger needles.

BEANIE
Using set of 4.00mm double-pointed needles, cast on
104 (112-120-128) sts.
Join to work in rounds, taking care not to twist cast-on edge.
1st round – * K2, P2, rep from * to end.
Rep 1st round until work measures 16 (18-20-22) cm from beg.
Shape Crown –
1st round – * K2, P2, K2, P2tog, rep from * to end …
91 (98-105-112) sts.
2nd round – * K2, P2, K2, P1, rep from * to end.
3rd round – As 2nd round.
4th round – * K2, P2tog, K2, P1, rep from * to end …
78 (84-90-96) sts.
5th round – * K2, P1, rep from * to end.
6th round – As 5th round.
7th round – * K2, P1, K2tog, P1, rep from * to end …
65 (70-75-80) sts.
8th round – * K2, P1, K1, P1, rep from * to end.
9th round – As 8th round.
10th round – * K2tog, P1, K1, P1, rep from * to end …

14th round – * K2tog, rep from * to end … 13 (14-15-16) sts.
15th round – * K2tog, rep from * to last 1 (0-1-0) sts,
K1 (0-1-0) … 7 (7-8-8) sts.
Break off yarn, run end through rem sts, draw up tightly
and fasten off securely.
TO MAKE UP
DO NOT PRESS. Sew in ends. Fold brim onto right side.
SCARF
Using 4.00mm needles, cast on 42 sts.
1st row – K2, * P2, K2, rep from * to end.
2nd row – P2, * K2, P2, rep from * to end.
Last 2 rows form rib.
NOTE – When joining a new ball of yarn, to keep the Scarf
edges neat, join in new ball 3 sts in from the edge. The
ends can then be sewn in vertically along the rib line.
Continue in rib until Scarf measures 110 (220) cm from
beg, ending with a 2nd row.
Cast off in rib.
TO MAKE UP
DO NOT PRESS. Sew in ends.
FRINGE (Short Scarf only)
Wind yarn around a piece of cardboard 20cm wide and
cut along one edge. Fold 4 strands of yarn in half and
using crochet hook, draw loop through 2nd st at end of
Scarf. Draw ends through loop and pull to tighten. Rep in
every 4th st across each end of Scarf.
