discuss the legacy of past stream management and how we are creating a new watershed legacy through our actions today.

Local historian Bob Steuding, author of The
Last of the Handmade Dams: The Story of the
Ashokan Reservoir, will speak about the history
and building of the Ashokan Reservoir. The
Reservoir’s construction was a triumph of engineering and vital to New York City’s drinking
water supply, but had a profound impact on
the future of watershed communities.

Mark Whitmore, Cornell University will explain
the signs and symptoms of tree infestation,
insect biology and management to minimize
the effects, and the implications for streamside forest health. Jim Hanson, Town of Woodstock Environmental Commission will discuss
how one community is proactively tackling
the problem of tree infestation.
