The Baker Huhges TesTrak™ tool delivers
real-time formation pressure and mobility data
for enhanced drilling efficiency, improved
wellsite safety, and increased reservoir
knowledge. The combination of SmartPad™
closed-loop sealing system and SmarTest™
intelligent testing ensures reliable formation
pressure and mobility for better real-time
decisions.
Since its introduction in 2003, the TesTrak tool
has successfully conducted pressure
measurements in formations with mobility
ranging from 0.01 mD/cP to over 20,000
mD/cP. Tests can be conducted in vertical,
deviated, and horizontal wells in well covering
a hole size from 5-3/4" - 17-1/2". Once started,
an intelligent close-loop system inside the tool
applies an automatic, self-learning
measurement cycle. The system is based on
precise, interacting control of pump draw
down pressure, pad contact pressure and
drawdown volume, enabling the tool to
optimize test and operating parameters.
Once a pad contact has been established with
the borehole wall, the SmartPad system
determines an initial optimal sealing pressure,
which is then continuously monitored and
improved during the entire measurement. If
required the SmartPad sealing system
responds to parameter changes, such as
sanding, or borehole wall irregularities, and
applies the necessary force to obtain a tight
seal without damaging the formation. The
SmarTest intelligent testing system calculates
test parameters down hole using proprietary
Formation Rate Analysis (FRA™) algorithms,
which relates the formation's fluid flow to that
measured drawdown rate in the tool. In high
mobility formation's this can lead to a
measurement in less than a minute.
