M40 Improvements: Gaydon Bulletin - April 2015

M40 IMPROVEMENTS, GAYDON
15 April 2015: Update no.3
Improvements are taking place in the area of Gaydon with the dualling of
the B4100 / B4451 carriageway, a Warwickshire County Council (WCC)
scheme, and the M40 Junction 12 improvements, a Highways Agency
(HA) scheme. This is the third monthly bulletin published jointly by WCC
and the HA, to regularly update you on the progress of each scheme.
B4451 Gaydon Road Improvements Scheme
Update from Warwickshire County Council
Work is progressing well for the construction of the new dual carriageway
in Gaydon. The main operations currently being carried out include
earthworks, drainage and statutory authority service diversions.
A temporary 30mph Speed Limit is in place on the B4451 from the M40
J12 to the Gaydon roundabout and up to the Heritage Motor Centre on
the B4100. This will continue for the duration of the works. Completion of
the WCC roadworks scheme is estimated to be February 2016.
Temporary Traffic Signal Arrangements
The trial switch off of the part time traffic
signals at the B4451 Gaydon roundabout
was successful following the changes to
the JLR site car parking arrangements.
These signals will remain in place for a
further undefined period to allow their use if
required as part of the main construction
works. The part time traffic signals at the
M40 Junction 12 off slip continue to
operate during the AM peak period and will
remain in place until Traffic Management
requires their removal during the relevant construction phase.

M40 Junction 12 Improvements Scheme
Update from Highways England
On 1 April the Highways Agency
became Highways England. For
more information on Highways
England please visit our
website:

Our new scheme email address
can be found below.
Over the Easter Bank Holiday the project team avoided use of traffic
management along the M40 in order to avoid causing delays to holiday
traffic. We will aim to do this over all bank holidays to prevent disruption.
The area for the contractor’s site compound is now operational and is in
close proximity to the junction. This is beneficial for ease of access to the
site and reduces the construction vehicles travelling long distances.
Works at junction 12 commenced on the 13 April 2015, with BT
Openreach diversions. The BT cables will be re-routed from along the
B4451 to under the M40. Traffic management will be in place along the
M40 and slip roads for approximately three weeks, this will include a
reduction in the speed limit, slip road closures and three way traffic lights.
Further details and diversion routes can be found on our scheme website
http://www.highways.gov.uk/m40j12
Traffic management will be in use for the safety of the travelling public as
well as construction staff. Where possible we will aim to avoid using
traffic management during rush hour traffic and prevent causing further
congestion for motorway traffic using the M40 during peak times.
