M40 Junction 12 Improvements Scheme
Update from Highways England
Health and Safety is of paramount
importance to Highways England on the
M40. We are taking time to ensure our site,
staff and vehicles meet all the necessary
standards for the benefit of all. Ensuring the
latest safety equipment is installed on our
vehicles will help maintain a high level of
safety on our site.
We have been carrying out some Ground Penetrating Radar surveys
under the slip roads to determine soil composition, and whether there are
any large areas of unrequired material, such as concrete or remnants of
a previous road, under the current layer of tarmac. This will help resolve
any potential delays prior to resurfacing works.
Over the Early May Bank Holiday the project team avoided use of traffic
management along the M40 in order to help prevent delays to holiday
traffic. We will aim to do this over all bank holidays to prevent disruption.

Work has also started offline with the erection of additional fencing. We
have consulted with the land owners to ensure that this meets their
needs and expectations.
Traffic management will continue to be in use for the safety of the
travelling public as well as construction workforce whilst the fencing is
being erected. Where possible we will aim to avoid using traffic
management during rush hour traffic and prevent causing further
congestion for motorway traffic using the M40 during peak times.
