It was a tight contest with played at a high level and intensity. Any error was forced and jumped on by the opposition teams and pressure for the goalers was evident but they all stood up and delivered. Assumption stuck to the game plan during the second quarter and forced more errors from Geelong and started to pull away gaining a sizeable lead at the half time break. However an ankle injury to Casey Adamason half way through the third quarter rattled the Assumption team and Geelong jumped on the chance and focused and started to chip away the 10 goal lead to Assumption. Assumption was a couple goals up at the final break. Indecision and play away from the plan in place saw Geelong take the lead and the final half of the 4th quarter saw the game go goal for goal. Geelong scored and put them up by 1 goal with only 30 seconds on the time clock but Assumption held strong and scored off their final centre pass to level the game.
