The Assyrian Universal Alliance Foundation Scholarship Program The Assyrian Universal Alliance Foundation (AUAF) is pleased to present the AUAF Scholarship Program (Program). The Program will award merit based scholarships to deserving high school seniors and full-time undergraduate students who are pursuing post-secondary education at an accredited institution. The purpose of the Program is to expand educational opportunities and encourage educational achievement. Eligibility To be eligible to apply for the Program you must: 1. Be a high school senior or high school graduate who plans to enroll or who is already enrolled in a fulltime undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four year college, university or vocational/technical school; 2. Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in a high school, or in case of high school graduates, currently maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent) in your course of study. 3. Be a full-time student in an undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four year college, university or vocational/technical school for the 2015-2016 academic year; 4. Have at least one parent of Assyrian descent; 5. Have demonstrated academic achievement, leadership and community involvement and 6. Be a resident of Illinois. * Members of the AUAF Scholarship Committee, the AUAF Board of Directors, and the spouses and children of all such individuals are ineligible. For purposes of eligibility, children are defined as an individual’s natural and legally adopted children, stepchildren and grandchildren. Awards Recipients will have the opportunity to renew their scholarship on an annual basis for up to three additional years of study. Recipients attempting to renew their scholarship must continue to meet all eligibility requirements, submit a renewal form each year, and provide any additional statements, documents or information that may be required or requested by the AUAF Scholarship Committee. Students may reapply to the Program each year they meet eligibility requirements, provided, however, students may not receive more than four years of funding (i.e., no more than four scholarships). Application Interested students must complete the attached application and submit it, along with (i) a current complete official transcript verifying grades and attendance; (ii) two letters of recommendation; (iii) proof of acceptance into (or enrollment in) an accredited two or four year college, university or vocational/technical school; (iv) 1 copy of Illinois drivers license or State issued identification card verifying residency in the State of Illinois, to AUAF Headquarters, Attention Scholarship Committee, 4343 W Touhy Ave., Lincolnwood 60712. Applications must be postmarked no later than June 26, 2015. Online transcripts are acceptable if student name, school name, grade and credit hours earned for each course and the term in which each course was taken are printed. Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore, answer all questions as completely as possible. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated. All information received is considered confidential. Selection of Recipients Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, potential to succeed, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, and your personal statement. Scholarship recipients will be considered based solely on merit. Financial need is not considered. Final selection of scholarship recipients will be made by the AUAF Scholarship Committee. All applicants agree to accept the decision of the Scholarship Committee as final. Winning applicants will be notified on or about July 20th, 2015. All scholarship recipients are expected to attend the Annual AUAF Scholarship Reception on Sunday, July 26, 2015 where they will be formally recognized for their achievements and as AUAF Scholars. Payment of Scholarships Payments will be presented at the scholarship reception and checks will be made payable to your accredited institution. Obligations Students are required to supply AUAF with complete transcripts and to notify AUAF of any changes of address, school enrollment or other relevant information. The AUAF reserves the right to terminate the Program at any time, and to make such changes to the Program’s terms, eligibility requirements, processes or procedures at any time in its sole and absolute discretion.
