YOUTH ENGAGEMENT THROUGH INTERVENTION AT THE RITECARE
Evidence Based Practices
YETI Groups: Fall and Spring
Semesters
YETI is designed for children with social skill challenges. This intensive 8
week model offered twice a year addresses topic areas such as conversation skills, making plans, interrupting,
joining play, etc. Research shows that
intensive programs are highly effective.
Children meet at the RiteCare Clinic,
University of Montana, for 80 minutes
once a week. The groups are small
and there is one adult interventionist
per every one child. Sessions are
designed to be engaging, safe, and
skill focused. We also allow time for
children to practice their friendship
skills.
Clinicians
YETI employs a number of evidence
based practices including:
 Video modeling
 Montana Behavior Initiative
 Token reinforcement
 Visual supports
 Social narratives
 And many more….
The RiteCare Clinic is a teaching clinic for
the University of Montana’s (UM) Communicative Sciences and Disorders Department. Graduate students are under the
direct supervision of a licensed and clinically competent (CCC) speech language
pathologist/faculty member. Graduate students from the UM Department of Psychology (School and Clinical programs) also
lead the sessions under the supervision of
a nationally credentialed school psychologist/faculty member.
YETI Camps: June
YETI Camps are week long opportunities for children with social skill challenges to develop their skills and prepare to attend future camps. Peer
models attend this camp and each
child has a 1:1 interventionist.
Children meet at the RiteCare Clinic,
University of Montana, from 9:00-3:00
Monday—Friday. YETIs are required
to bring their own lunch. While at
Camp the YETIs learn different social
skills, take trips on campus, do crafts,
and practice friendship skills.
