The Need

Our customer is a very large and well-known
technology service Integrator in Malaysia with
additional offices overseas.
Managing multiple
projects, service contracts and hardware & software
procurement is a daily routine for most SI’s. But even
SI’s cannot do everything themselves. Sometimes
projects require some out-of-the-box strategy and
planning when customers have requests that don’t fit
into the OEM mold. In some cases, customers want
to continue to use their legacy hardware and EOL
equipment in some portions of their network. Of
course, OEM’s will try to force an upgrade but an SI,

although they mostly sell new equipment, will try
to accommodate their customers as best as
possible. As an SI, they are bound by certain OEM
rules and regulations. But a third-party provider
such as Axentel Technologies has freedom to
operate outside of the OEM guidelines and this is
why they approached us.

Axentel was tasked with providing Cisco
networking equipment, consulting services for the
server side and hardware support for EOL
equipment which is running in their customers
environment. Also, time was an issue so lengthy
lead times were not an option. A strategy was
quickly developed to provide:

1-year ROR warranty on all equipment

Case Study
Axentel immediately provided consulting on their
customers IBM and HP server issues and helped to
optimize their systems.
The hardware was
procured with short lead times and their Cisco
legacy system was placed under an AxenCare
agreement and now their customer has a solid
asset management plan in place and the security of
a 24/7 break-fix contract in case of hardware or
software failure. A win-win for all parties involved.
