April 5, 2015 Office of the Commissioner 15U DIVISION – 2015 ALABAMA STATE TOURNAMENT Eufaula will serve as the Alabama tournament host for the 2015 state event of the 15U Division. The event will be held June 3-7 at Old Creek Town Park & Eufaula High School Baseball facilities. The tournament will start Wednesday, June 3rd. Eufaula, Alabama settled high upon a bluff overlooking the beautiful 45,000-acre Lake Eufaula, is located in southeastern Alabama along the Alabama-Georgia border, approximately 90 miles southeast of Montgomery, the state capital. Southern charm is a trait that comes naturally in Eufaula and Barbour County. The community holds the power to allure and delight, not only tourists, but inhabitants as well. With a choice of restaurants to suit everyone, a variety of places to stay, and an abundance of recreational activities, you'll enjoy your time in Eufaula and you'll want to come back, again & again. The event in 2014 was originally slated to have eight participating teams. Overall interest in the tournament led organizers to expand the tournament field from eight to twelve teams. As a result, the tournament included teams from throughout Alabama. In order to accommodate all of the teams a schedule was created that allowed each team to participate in two games. Four separate playing pools were also formed with the format allowing the winner of each pool to advance to the semi-finals on Sunday. These pool winners competed for the opportunity to be crowned as Alabama 15U State Champions. Enterprise won the state championship with the team from Muscle Shoals ending as the runner-up. The two teams earned a berth in the 2014 REGION ONE 15U tournament (eight teams) at Eagle Stadium in Ozark, Alabama. The team from Enterprise also won the regional event held in Ozark. The 2015 regional event will again be held in Ozark, Alabama. More details about these upcoming events will be released by May 1st, 2015.
