SUMMER VACATION ASSIGNMENT – 2015
CLASS – I
Dear children,
The Summer Vacation is often taken as synonymous with fun and
frolics, getting up late in the morning, playing for longer hours with friends,
going on trips and watching fun-filled shows on television. But dear children,
there are a lot of things that you can do to make your vacation more
interesting and meaningful, along with doing all these fun and frolics. Here is
a “Summer Vacation Activity Treasure Box” for you which will mould you
for a better and successful forthcoming year. So, set out to hunt your Activity
Treasure Box now.
A few guidelines for your parents to make your long Summer break fruitful.
1. “ Knowledge is Power”. Therefore, encourage your child to cultivate
reading habit because it enhances the knowledge acquired as well as develops
the vocabulary, language skills and improves spellings.
2. “ A healthy mind lives in a healthy body”. So, encourage your child to
play outdoor games because sports instill discipline, generate sporting spirits
and channelize energy constructively. Also encourage him/her to play board
games as chess, Ludo, Carrom, etc.
3. “ Communication- the human connection – is the key to personal and
career success”. Therefore, converse with your child preferably in English to
help him/ her get comfortable with the language. Also encourage your child to
read children‟s magazines and story books.
4. Spend quality time with your child engaging him/ her in activities based
on enhancing his/her powers of observation and imagination.
5. Sensitize your child about the rich culture and heritage by watching
different informative channels like „ The National Geographic‟, „Animal
Planet‟, etc.
6. Encourage your child to do the activities himself /herself and fix a
specific time to do homework everyday.
English
1. Write four lines of English and Hindi writing every day in cursive writing
and sulekh books.
2. Memorize the spellings of Hindi and English Words enlisted (List
attached)
3. Read the passage and pick out Noun, Pronoun, Verb and Adjective
( in English grammar copy )

With the help of your parents, make “Hello, Thank You, Please, Sorry and
Excuse me” cards for your family, friends , domestic helpers etc. Give a
star to yourself on the card every time you use these words with them.

Paste the pictures of different parts of body in scrap book.
Write the names of vegetables that are eaten cooked and raw, in separate
columns. ( in scrap book )

10. Make a train with the help of empty match boxes and write vowels on it.
11. Buy a big ball ( colourful ) and write all the consonants on it with the help of
marker.
12. Paste the pictures of five food items which you like the most (in your scrap
book)
13. Paste the pictures of your family members in your scrap book.
14. Write the poem “ White sheep” ( pg No. 24 in your main course book ) and
paste the picture of the same sheep. ( in scrap book )

4. Make a small cart using a piece of cardboard , an empty match box , two
bits of broomsticks and some strings.

2. Make a dustbin with the help of card board box and write „USE ME‟ on it.

5. Visit a religious place with your parents and click a photograph of it. Paste
it and write two or three lines about that place.
