The tremendous growth of entertainment, TV, publishing, IT, mobile internet and wireless handheld devices industries has increased the demand for multimedia and design professionals by leaps and bounds. ON COMPLETION OF HND On successful completion of your HND course you will receive a diploma to certify that you have followed and completed the course in a recognized area of study. The qualification allows you to either apply for a top-up degree in the UK / US / Australia or you can directly step into your chosen career path. ASSESSMENT The qualification is assessed by submission of a combination of practical project work, written and visual reports, formal essays and student presentations. All studied course units will require students to submit work using a combination of some or all of these forms of submission at different points within the academic year. All students receive deadlines and submission dates within assignment briefs. Grading is achieved through the submitted work reaching the required level set out in the Edexcel grading descriptors for the qualification, and is graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction. The grading of work is continual and on-going throughout the two academic years of the course. Students will have verbal and written feedback about their submissions and grades will be made clear within the feedback documentation. Graphic Design is Communication. It is presenting a message in an effective way that engages or persuades someone to read or act upon it. It is information design, helping someone to catch a bus or stop them falling down stairs. It is about typography and knowing the rules. It is about breaking the rules but not just for the sake of it. It is about ligatures, en-dashes, images and screen resolutions.
