June fundraising ideas 2015

June
Fundraising ideas of the month
National Leave the Office Early Day – 1 June
To celebrate a day dedicated to clocking off early,
why not organise a raffle. Pick your (time-based)
prizes for employees to deduct from their day, then
send all donations to Macmillan. You could offer an
extra hour in the sunshine? Or how about a hot-hothot half day lazing in the park?
A blooming marvellous fundraiser – 6–7 June
A record number of gardens will open their gates
to visitors in exchange for vital donations to the
National Gardens Scheme’s charity beneficiaries,
including Macmillan. This is the third annual
National Gardens Festival Weekend and is set to
take place on the 6–7 June. This year the National
Gardens Scheme has been supporting Macmillan
for 30 years and in this time has donated an
incredible £15.2million. Find out which gardens are
opening near you.
Hook-a-duck – 9 June
Go quackers for Donald Duck Day by holding
a hook-a-duck competition, at a suggested £1
a go. Get people flocking to join by asking local
businesses to donate prizes – then fly all entry fees
over to Macmillan.
£435 could operate the welfare rights element of our phone
service for an hour. In this time, our cancer support specialists
could, on average, deal with nine cases and help secure £17,489
in unclaimed benefits. See if you can raise all or part of this amount
with our June fundraising ideas.
And they’re off – 16–20 June
Join in the fun of the races by organising a trip
to Royal Ascot in aid of Macmillan. Run your own
sweepstake from the race programme – with
one lucky person galloping home with half the
winnings and the other half helping us support
people affected by cancer. You could also join us at
Macmillan’s Charity Raceday on 13 June at York
Racecourse – a perfect combination of glamour and
excitement all to help a great cause.
Father’s Day – 21 June
Stuck on what to get dad this Father’s Day?
Then why not do something extra special and
donate the money you would usually spend on
a gift to Macmillan instead. You’ll be helping us be
there for even more people affected by cancer, now
and for the future – including millions of dads.
Wimbledon – 29 June–12 July
Whether or not you’re making the journey to SW19,
make a racket about Wimbledon by organising a
Macmillan sweepstake. To be a hit with Macmillan
in a different way, organise an XBox tennis
tournament in your workplace, for a suggested
£2 donation to join in.
Please share your fundraising ideas by logging
on to Facebook or sending us a tweet. We couldn’t
provide all the support we do without you. If you
want to get involved, in whatever way you can,
call us today on 0300 1000 200. or email us at

Strike a pose... – 29 June
... Vogue. Celebrate Camera Day by
holding a photo competition in your
workplace. Ask budding David Baileys to
submit a photo and help snap up vital funds for
Macmillan by asking for a suggested £2 donation
to enter. To decide the winner, why not get
opinions from every angle by asking members
of your workplace’s Facebook or Twitter account
to vote on their preferred pic.
