Fletcher Brown Boys & Girls Club New Castle County Job Category: Non Exempt Posting Expires: Position Type: Part Time (24 to 28 hrs/week) Reports To: MCLF Project Coordinator Job Title: Department/Group: Date posted: Position Summary: Under the direction of the MCLF Project Coordinator, the Program Coordinator is responsible for administering the Mike’s TEAM Mentoring Program at the Brown Boys & Girls Club, which is the result of a collaborative partnership with The Wilmington Friends School and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware. The coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of a successful mentoring program offered to children ages 6 to 12 with the goal of building Club members’ social skills. Job Description: Essential Functions: Recruits students from the Brown Boys & Girls Club to participate in mentoring activities. Recruits student mentors from the Wilmington Friends School (WFS) Upper School. Drafts group lesson plans and leads activities for the program on a weekly basis. Leads the activities during group mentoring activities. Plans all events and manages finances for the Mike’s TEAM WFS Chapter. Assists Wilmington Friends Upper School students in supporting and advertising the Mike’s TEAM program at the Brown Boys & Girls Club. Communicates regularly with all Mike’s TEAM WFS Chapter stakeholders. Cultivates a cooperative relationship with all Club staff. Represents Mike’s TEAM positively to the funders, the WFS and the community at large. Maintains supportive relationships with Club members, parents and student mentors. Qualifications and Education Requirements: • Is certified by the Office of Childcare Licensing, preferably at the level of School Age Assistant. If not currently certified, will attain certification within a three month period. • Attends and completes a mentor training class prior to beginning the mentoring program, offered courtesy of Connecting Generations. • A bachelor’s or associate’s degree from a credited university in a related field. • Possesses excellent writing and communication skills. • Remains empathetic and sensitive to people of diverse backgrounds. • Works independently. Has reliable transportation. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Maintains a high energy level. Regularly speaks clearly and hears the spoken word. Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 25 pounds when preparing rooms for activities. Typically bends, stoops, walks and sometimes runs on a regular basis while interacting with children in various activities throughout the day. Work Hours: Scheduled to work 24 to 28 hours/week.
