The 6 floor of the Morisset Library is dedicated to graduate studies and research. To meet the needs of our
growing graduate-student clientèle, this floor welcomes the Student Academic Success Service (SASS)’s Graduate
Resource and Mentoring Centre. It offers quiet research and study space, assigned study carrels, and group study

rooms equipped with presentation technology. The 6 floor also houses the library’s print periodical collection.
Major responsibilities
 Guide and help users in navigating the library Website and using the main electronic resources and tools
including the automated catalogue, print resources and databases.
 Identify questions to be referred to subject librarians or appropriate services including Loan Services,
Inter-Library Loans, Archives and Rare Books.
 Assist with the use of multimedia group study rooms and public computers.

Supervise the reading room entrance and exit and use of assigned study carrels, checking identity cards
and denying access to unauthorized visitors.
 Participate in the safety patrol on the 6th floor. Ensure that the codes of conduct and rules of use of the
collections and services are respected; explain the rules and the consequences of failure to respect them.
 Identify and provide notification of equipment breakage and malfunction.
 Perform office work as required by the supervisor.
 Attend team meetings; take part in training and development sessions as required.

 Contribute to the further development of the 6 floor services and programs for graduate and research
studies.
Essential Qualifications
 Registered at the Master’s program of the School of Information Studies or in a Master’s or Ph.D program.
 Bilingualism (French and English spoken and written).
 Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
 Experience in customer service and public communication.
 Strong information and computer/technological skills – knowledge of RefWorks or another bibliographic
citation tool would be an asset.
 Knowledge of the various services and resources available to graduate students.
Hourly rate: $26.30/hour
Number of hours: 10 hours week
Schedule: individual schedule to be determined, but within the following hours:
Monday to Thursday 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Friday: 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 pm Saturday and Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 4: 00
p.m.
Up to four positions are available for graduate students from September 2015 to April 2016.
