Once these have been received back and approved they will then send out payment forms from early May. Bidwell Brook school has signed up to a service level agreement with Devon County Council and the arrangements for this are as follows:Students eligible for reduced rate travel If you are in receipt of qualifying benefits, you will be eligible for a reduced rate of payment, which will automatically qualify for bursary funding. You will receive a Bursary form with your transport form which should be completed and sent back to Transport. The full cost will be met from the school’s allocation of Bursary Funding. Students paying full rate travel If you are not in receipt of qualifying benefits, but on a low income, or your son or daughter is eligible for Guaranteed Bursary Funding, then you may still apply for assistance with the cost of transport. You will need to complete a Bursary application form. When completed, return to school with correct supporting documents and the CBF 1 form that transport will send you. If your application is successful, we will stamp and send back the CBF1 form. You will then need to return this form together with your payment form to Transport and the school will again be invoiced directly and the cost of travel will again be met from the school’s allocation of Bursary Funding. We would like you to get involved! About the project Tim Adlam, an engineer (and parent carer) at Bath University is leading a research project to design a new seat for children. The seat will be designed to move with the child during spasms and normal movement. Tim would like parents’ views on how a seat for pre-school children is likely to be used so we are inviting any interested Family Faculty members to come along to a project meeting on Wednesday 29th April 2015 (10:30-12:30 followed by a lovely lunch) at St Luke’s campus, Exeter (Exeter Medical School, room G27). Tim would like to get your thoughts on things like where the seat might be used, what activities you would be using the seat for, how much storage space would it need among other things. If you have a child who has movement difficulties and uses a wheelchair we would very much like to hear your experiences about your child’s movement. Parents of children with other conditions who are interested can participate depending on numbers. Remember, parents are the experts! Please let me know if you are interested in this project or attending the meeting. As usual, we will cover reasonable travel and childcare costs and provide an £25 acknowledgement for your time. To find out more about Tim and the project please see the links below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSQFbYsYwuM http://www.sparks.org.uk/our-research/functional-seat-children-cerebralpalsy/ If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to contact PenCRU or Tim directly. pg 6 2014-2015 Family NEWSLETTER Disabled Activity Day – Saturday 20th June 10am – 4pm – Plymouth Hoe Lots of activities Free Admission For further details contact Phil on 01752 784490 Just a reminder: Parent newsletters and attachments also go on our school website: http://bidwellbrook.devon.sch.uk/ Accessible from the scrolling news-feed links on the front page of our website or on the Newsletters page.
