Introduction
This oncoplastic breast surgery workshop will provide
participants with the opportunity to increase their
knowledge and surgical skills in oncoplastic breast
surgery. The interactive workshop will focus on
breast conservation therapy and level one oncoplastic
procedures, with an emphasis on techniques that can
be used in routine practice, as well as providing an
introduction to breast reconstruction. Video sessions,
case discussions and demonstration of marking up on
live models in smaller groups, will ensure this one-day
course will be highly relevant to all breast surgeons. In
addition, the workshop will provide a good foundation
for participation in the level two oncoplastic workshop
planned for Brisbane in September 2015.
The comprehensive one-day programme includes:
• Patient selection
• Incision placement
• Glandular remodelling
• Approaches for dealing with difficult tumour locations
including central and inferior tumours
• Therapeutic mammoplasty
• Dealing with complications
• Overview of breast reconstruction
The workshop faculty will include Australian and
New Zealand breast surgeons with oncoplastic expertise.
