Breu resum:
El concurs de relats està obert al públic jove i a l’adult i els relats es poden presentar fins al 17
de maig de 2015. La categoria dirigida al públic jove ha tingut molt bona acollida en les
anteriors convocatòries. És una ocasió per trencar la separació de les lletres i les ciències.
Aquest any, a part de l’eBook i diverses publicacions del CSIC, hem incorporat un nou premi
per als guanyadors d’aquesta categoria, que consisteix en la publicació dels millor relat en
català i en castellà al web de la revista Mètode de divulgació científica de la Universitat de
València, així com una subscripció per un any a la mateixa revista. D’altra banda, us proposem
una lectura i una activitat per realitzar a l’aula que porta per títol Qui va crear Frankenstein? i
que vol afavorir la interdiciplinarietat a l’aula. Per això, proposa situar aquest mite
contemporani en el context científic, literari, històric i social de l’època.

V Concurs de relats d’inspiració científica
Objecte
BASES
Inspiraciència és un concurs de relats d’inspiració científica. És una iniciativa que
relaciona ciència i literatura d’una manera lúdica i participativa. La ciència i la
literatura recorren a la creativitat per encarar nous reptes i combinar-les pot
generar noves i fresques idees en direccions imprevisibles. Inspiraciència pretén
ser un espai obert a tothom on pensar i imaginar la ciència des de la ficció.
1. Podrà participar qualsevol persona que presenti un relat original, en qualsevol
de les llengües del concurs (català, castellà, euskera i galleg), inspirat en una
temàtica científica.
2. Els originals estaran escrits en català, castellà, euskera o gallec. Hauran de ser
inèdits i no haver estat premiats en cap altra convocatòria, certamen o premi
literari, ni haver estat publicats en cap altre mitjà o bloc personal.
Modalitats i categories
3. El concurs té una única modalitat competitiva:
Relat curt d’una extensió màxima de 800 paraules
4. Els participants podran participar en una de les següents categories:
Públic adult (a partir de 18 anys), o
Públic juvenil (de 12 a 17 anys)
5. Cada participant podrà presentar un màxim de quatre relats, sempre que
estiguin escrits en llengües diferents. Tots els relats d’un mateix participant han de
ser originals, és a dir, no es podrà presentar el mateix relat en llengües diferents.
Presentació dels relats
6. Els participants s'han de registrar a una de les dues categories i poden enviar un
relat en qualsevol de les llengües del concurs.
7. Els originals s’hauran de publicar al lloc web del concurs: www.inspiraciencia.es.
Prèviament, caldrà registrar-se a través d’un formulari disponible al mateix web.
8. Els participants podran accedir al seu compte amb el nom d’usuari i la
contrasenya. El pseudònim serà el nom amb el que se signarà el relats que es
vulguin publicar.
9. El termini de presentació de relats es tancarà el 17 de maig de 2015.

Premis
10. Els premis s’atorgaran durant el 25 de juny de 2015, en un acte que s’anunciarà
oportunament.
11. El concurs contempla un premi institucional per a cada categoria i llengua, i un
premi del públic. Els premis seran dispositius electrònics, llibres de divulgació,
cursos d’escriptura, la subscripció a una revista de divulgació.
12. L’organització del concurs es reserva el dret de declarar deserta la
convocatòria si considera que les obres presentades no assoleixen la qualitat
mínima necessària.
Jurat i criteris de valoració
13. Per als premis institucionals es designarà un jurat que valorarà les
contribucions i proposarà els guanyadors. El jurat estarà format per persones de
l’àmbit de la cultura en sentit ampli (ciència, literatura, art, divulgació) i
s’anunciarà oportunament.
El concurs disposa d’un equip de moderació per a què els relats puguin sortir
publicats de manera àgil. Aquest equip s’encarrega també de fer preselecció dels
relats que passarà al jurat.
14. Per a valorar els relats es tindrà en compte l’adequació a la temàtica, la qualitat
literària, l'originalitat de l'enfocament, a més de la creativitat i la imaginació.
15. Els premis del públic es decidiran a través d’una votació en línia dels
participants prèviament registrats. Durant el període de votació, que s’anunciarà
oportunament, els participants podran votar els relats que desitgin d’entre els
preseleccionats, que coincidiran amb els que valorarà el jurat. 1
El premi del públic premiarà els relats més votats de les dues categoria i modalitat,
amb independència de la llengua en la que s’hagin escrit.

16. La participació en aquest concurs pressuposa l'acceptació de les bases.
17. Els relats guanyadors podran ser publicats en mitjans físics i/o digitals sempre
mencionant els noms dels autors.

ICIQ International PhD Fellowships Programme “La Caixa” – Severo Ochoa
(2015 Call)
PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION
“La Caixa” Foundation provides support to the ICIQ and the other Centers of Excellence
recognized with the Severo Ochoa Award by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and
Competitiveness. The “Severo Ochoa Centers/Units of Excellence" support and accreditation
is a programme that seeks to boost research activities taking place in specific institutional and
organizational environments in which scientists perform cutting-edge basic research and are
among the world's best in their respective areas. The impact and international scientific
leadership of these centers and units is essential for their recognition.
The ICIQ is looking for young, highly talented and motivated students from the national
and international community who wish to do their PhD within the ICIQ International PhD
Fellowship Programme “La Caixa”- Severo Ochoa.
ICIQ’s PhD-directed research and associated activities are at the core of our commitment to
education. We foster graduate students in their path to think, design and execute an
individual research project under the supervision and mentoring of an ICIQ Group Leader in a
creative and stimulating scientific environment. In partnership with the Universitat Rovira i
Virgili (URV), the ICIQ offers the PhD programmes “Chemical Science and Technology” and
“Technologies for Nanosystems, Bioengineering and Energy”. Students will have access to
the Institute’s first class instrumental facilities and will benefit from ICIQ’s career development
courses.
The current call offers 3 positions funded by “La Caixa”. Successful candidates will have the
opportunity to join one of ICIQ’s research groups and carry out their research in the frame of
ICIQ’s Severo Ochoa programme: “Facing global challenges with catalysis: Small
molecules that can change our lives”.

We encourage highly talented students to apply for one of these grants to pursue doctoral
studies at ICIQ, one of the world-leading centers in chemical research.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
1.- The students admitted in the ICIQ International PhD Fellowship Programme “La Caixa”Severo Ochoa will be considered research personnel in training and they will have an
employment contract (a pre-doctoral contract) which is regulated in the Spanish Law 14/2011,
of June 1st, of Science, Technology and Education. Pre-doctoral contracts are renewed
annually for up to 4 years.
2.- The gross yearly salary of the contract shall be €18.546,56 (1st year), €19.303,56 (2nd
year), €20.666,16 (3rd year) and €22.558,67 (4th year), split into 12 monthly payments. This
salary includes full social security coverage (health and accident insurance) and pension and
unemployment benefits.
In addition to the salary, the students will receive a onetime annual allowance of €1.500 (1st
and 2nd year) and €1.700 (3rd and 4th year). That allowance covers miscellaneous expenses,

such as university fees, expenses derived from international congress attendance and/or
stays in international research centres.
3.- The grant holder is entitled to temporary interrupt the grant in the following situations:
temporary disability, risk during pregnancy, maternity, paternity and adoption or foster care.
The time elapsed during this interruption will not be accounted for against the total time.
4.- Successful candidates will join the SO-ICIQ International Graduate Student Programme.
Key aspects of the programme are: International perspective, preferential focus on the
objectives of the ICIQ - Severo Ochoa research programme, mobility and training in high
throughput experimentation methodologies (HTE). The ICIQ also offers training oriented to
provide scientific and non-scientific skills, which are of key importance for a successful career
development, and language training courses in Catalan, Spanish and English.
5.- PhD students will work full-time at the ICIQ and may not receive any other fellowship or
regular income. The PhD thesis has to be completed within 4 years.
6.- Support by this Programme will be duly acknowledged in any scientific publication or
communication authored by the grant holder.
ELEGIBILITY CRITERIA
The ICIQ International PhD Fellowships Programme “La Caixa” – Severo Ochoa is addressed
to graduate students from any nationality that fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
1.- Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in the areas of Chemistry, Pharmacy, Physics,
Biology, Biochemistry or Chemical Engineering or an equivalent degree, which allows them to
start PhD studies.
2.- Candidates who have had a scientific relationship with the ICIQ for more than six
consecutive months before the deadline, are not eligible for these fellowships.
3.- The applicants may not have held a grant for postgraduate studies funded by “La Caixa”
Foundation.
In case of doubts about the eligibility criteria, applicants should contact the ICIQ - Severo
Ochoa Management Team at [email protected] prior to submission of the application.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Applicants must fill out and submit the online application form available at the Jobs & Grants
section on ICIQ’s website (http://www.iciq.org/jobs-grants/) before May 31st, 2015. They will
be required to provide the following information:
1.- Personal and contact information.

2.- The Curriculum Vitae, specifying the completed degree and any relevant information
(publications, previous fellowships, mobility, professional experience, etc.) and two contact
references (Name, Institution, Position, email).
Two reference letters will be automatically requested to the referees proposed by the
candidate through the online system. The referees must submit their scanned signed letters
of recommendation directly to [email protected]. Only letters with official letterhead and
signature will be accepted.
3.- A scanned copy of the certified academic record of the studies which provide access to
the PhD programme. For degrees obtained in foreign institutions, the academic record must
include the range of marks used in the country of origin and the minimum mark to pass.
4.- A motivation letter with declaration of interests.
Applicants should submit information whenever possible in English (CV, motivation letter,
summary of work experience). If the certified academic records are not in Catalan, Spanish or
English applicants should also attach a sworn translation in one of the above mentioned
languages.
Once the application is submitted, an acknowledgement e-mail will be automatically sent.
Candidates must ensure that all information is included before the deadline. Incomplete
proposals will not be considered.
All personal data requested by ICIQ from applicants will be treated in accordance with the
principles of the data protection act (15/13 December 1999).
SELECTION PROCESS
Admission to the programme is on a competitive basis. All applications will be evaluated
solely on the basis of academic and research excellence of the candidates.
The evaluation is organized in three stages:
1.- Stage I: Eligibility.
Submitted proposals will be checked for eligibility by the ICIQ - Severo Ochoa Management
Team and those not fulfilling all the criteria will be rejected. There will not be the possibility to
modify the application or to add missing documentation after the call deadline.
2.- Stage II: Evaluation and pre-selection.
Candidates will be evaluated based on the following selection criteria: academic
qualifications, previous research results, working knowledge of English and reference letters.
The evaluation at this stage will be performed by a Selection Committee composed by the
ICIQ Director and three ICIQ Group Leaders. The selection committee will rank eligible
applications based on the selection criteria. Best candidates will proceed to Stage III for the
oral interviews.
3.- Stage III: Oral interviews.
Pre-selected candidates will be invited to visit the ICIQ where they will be interviewed by the
Selection Committee and by potential supervisors to discuss their research interests.

Before the visit to ICIQ, the candidates will be asked to choose a maximum of three project
references in order of priority from a list of ICIQ groups that are accepting applications in the
call. The selected candidates will receive this list together with the invitation letter. More
information on the research activities of each group can be found on the ICIQ web pages.
Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by the ICIQ. Interviews are tentatively
scheduled to take place at the beginning of July, 2015. Applicants should be prepared to
travel to Spain at that time. Failure to participate in the interview process will disqualify the
applicant for being considered for a position. Original documents, such as original academic
certificates and diplomas, or certified translations, will have to be presented at this time.
The Selection Committee will select final candidates based on Stage II evaluation and oral
interviews. Successful students will be assigned to the research groups based on the
applicants’ priorities. Applicants will be notified of the final selection decision by email and the
list of the successful candidates will be published on the ICIQ website. Successful candidates
will be requested to inform ICIQ whether they accept or decline the offer within one week
after being notified. The offer will be considered declined if the applicant does not respond
during this time.
