The World War One poet, Francis Ledwidge was born and raised in this cottage.
His rural poetry was influenced by the flora and fauna of his native Slane. The
gardens to the rear are a haven in spring time with daffodils, bluebells and
primroses. In summer the roses and other cottage garden flowers are in full bloom.
