MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
CHIP MULL
By the time you read this Kelly will have had his briefing for
the Colorado trip. Rooms are almost all gone so don’t wait
until the last minute.
Yes, Boerne was canceled due to forecast thunderstorms.
Berni and I have a client in that area and he said Saturday
was bizarre. There was sunshine, rain, wind, sunshine and
hail. It was a pretty bizarre WX day. Putting a quarter of a
million dollars of plastic cars out in the elements would not
have been a great idea.
Does anyone remember when “Motels” were little rooms with a garage beside
them? It seems like Route 66 was peppered with them when I was a kid. The
difference between a Hotel and a Motel were the little garages.

See poster on page 3 of newsletter.
Put this one on your calendar. It starts at 0900 and goes until whenever. I will
be leaving Starbucks at 0800 in my ’64. They want early Vettes but I’m sure
they would love to see a bunch of late models too.
For the May 7 meeting I would like everyone to RSVP for dinner. Please just call
me at 817-573-8828 and leave a number for dinner. I have a number in mind, I
just want a confirmation. We’re getting too large to guess every time. Call me
by Tuesday, May5, prior to the meeting this month.
‘Till the next time…

April 2, 2015 BRCC MINUTES
bY KIM SHEPPARD
The April 2, 2015 meeting of the Brazos River Corvette Club was held at the Harbor Lakes
Country Club. The meeting was called to order at 7:07 P.M. by the President Chip Mull.
The number of members present were 46. There were 4 guest that attended.
John Bratta gave a nice blessing for the meal.
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was lead by veteran of the month, Larry DeYoung.
John Bratta welcomed four new members. Terry and Marilyn who own a 2014 white
corvette. Chris and Debbie Whitsitt. John also reintroduced an “old” new member to the
group, Steve Motley.
John informed the group Don and Heather Wayman would be moving to Central Washington. He is taking a city
manager position. They will be missed.
Reports:
Secretary: No report was given for the month of March. Chip made a difficult decision to cancel the meeting due
to icy road conditions.
Treasurer: Teresa Batson reported the bank account balance for the end of March. All present agreed to pass the
Treasurers report as presented.
Chip mention an additional sheet was available to add to our directory. It had the new members Jim and Linda Watkins. Chip introduced a guest from Ruth’s Place, Greg Gossef.
Greg spoke about the responsibilities of Ruth Place. They service mainly underprivileged people that have no medical insurance. They have the service of retired professionals donating their time. They supply dental and optical
exams that our group can help support with our donation. They receive no state or federal funding. All profits come
from local donations. They take care of chronic cases in Hood County only.
Chip then had Phil Harris come up and speak about the Tarrant Area Food Bank. The Food Bank serves 300,000
meals each month. All ages are served. The Food Bank trains people to be chefs. The Food Bank sends home
food in back packs for children on the weekends. Our $5000.00 donation would provide 25,000 meals that would
be earmarked for Hood County.
Larry DeYoung then came up and spoke about how our donation can service Veterans. One group is Wet Vets and
they provide social and therapeutic time to disabled Vets. The second group to support Vets is through Mission
Granbury. Mission Granbury has a special account set up for just Vets. Our guest Debbie Whitsitt spoke in support
of the Vets receiving the donation. There was a lot of discussion about the silent auction. Carol Harris felt it is not a
job if everyone helps and supplies the items to be auctioned. Chip felt it was an excellent idea to manage the silent
auction through the members. There was discussion about helping Habitat For Humanity by having a work day.
John Bratta would like more information on the Vets. Larry would get the additional information.
Chip asked the members whether they would like to vote tonight on a charity or wait?
Jim Hill and Earl Harris both want the vote for the charities to be a secret ballot and not tonight. All were in favor.

Monthly Meeting Minutes Continued
It was agreed that Jim Hill would bring the ballots with the listed charities to the next meeting. The members would
vote during the meeting. Jim Hill would then tally the ballots. The results would be given at the close of the meeting.
All were in favor.
Ruth’s Place, Tarrant Area Food Bank, Wet Vets, Mission Granbury Vets would be on the ballot. Habitat For Humanity would be an event only.
Events/Cruise:
We have had four events this year. January was the Texas Civil War Museum, February was Mary’s Cafe in Strawn,
March was Texas de Brazil and the Gas Monkey Garage. On April 25th Kelly and Debby will host a meeting at their
home for the Colorado trip. It will be at 2:00 PM. Kelly is working on a cruise to Freidricksburg on May 9th. May
15th is the Lone Star Classic. May 16th Terry Varner has something planned. They are looking into bowling at the
new Bowling Alley.
Chip mentioned a two day cruise to Boerne Texas. It will be about 5 hours. They are planning on April 17 and 18th,
departing 0900 Friday and returning on Saturday. There is an open car show. There is plenty of shopping for the
ladies.
Competition Directors: Dale Fossen, David Penwell and Neal Bellamy
Neal spoke about a NCCC autocross by CowTown Corvettes on April 18 and 19th in Mineral Wells. Neal has the
info available for all that are interested. David spoke about the May 2nd Track Day. He has 10 to 12 signed up as of
tonight. It is a safe place and no accidents for 10 years with over 200 cars participating. Dale reminded the group
it will be full at 20 club members. Neil has a one page handout available to members as to how to prepare their car.
The class starts at 1:30PM. For more information call anyone mentioned above.
Web Master: Bob Brandies has a new member directory available.
Old Business: None was reported.
Charity Raffle: Elfrieda Sanders sold the 50/50 raffle tickets and Jim Hill won this month.
Open Discussion:
A member discussed his batteries purchased from O’Reilly Automotive. He was impressed with their service.
Robert Sanders made a motion to adjourn and Peggy Bratta seconded it. All were in favor.
Adjourn: 8:25 PM.
Respectfully submitted,

CHEVRO LET CORV ETTE STATISTICS
The Corvette debuted in 1953 and quickly became Americas favorite sports car. Although
it started out as a sleek touring car, Chevrolet quickly figured out that Americans wanted
more power, and more power they gave them. Corvette has developed over the years to
become a world class sports car, both for the street and track. Corvette has undergone
many changes over the years, each marked by a new designation and generation. The
C1 generation lasted from 1953 to 1962 and laid the foundation for all Corvettes to come.
The C2 generation was the shortest to date, lasting from 1963 to 1967. Generation C3
was Corvettes longest run, starting in 1968 and lasting until 1982. The C3 saw the advent
of the Coke Bottle Curves and the emissions regulations of the 70's and early 80's. You
may notice that there is no 1983 Corvette, and for a brief moment in time, there were no
planned future Corvettes. For an amazing look into this story, due yourself a favor and read
"All Corvettes are Red" by James Schefter. The C4 Corvette which was offered for sale in
1984 had a 13 year run until 1996 and was considered a new technology platform, many
of its innovations can still be seen on Corvettes today. The C5 Corvette ran from 1997 to
2004, and truly put world class performance in the hands of everyday Americans. The 6th
Corvette generation started in 2005 and ran till 2013. The C6 is a natural evolution from the
C5, increasing both in horsepower and torque, but it is its exposed headlights that garner
much of the attention. The C6 generation has given Corvette enthusiasts the re-birth of
the Z06 and ZR1, both of which are considered in just about every ultimate car shoot out
conversation.
