Larry Sharp overdid himself, it was an outstanding lunch. The weather decided to drizzle on us all day so only a few decided not to drive a metal car. I ate waaaaay too much. Thanks to John Boyd for putting the Gas Monkey Garage on the agenda. Again, it was misting rain and again only a few drove Corvettes. Too bad ‘cause I think Richard would have enjoyed seeing all the late model cars. The newest car I saw in his garage was a 2014 Rolls Royce. Not too shabby. They were filming something for Havoline Oil so we have to be careful what cars show up on Facebook. Some haven’t been on TV yet and I guess they didn’t want to issue a spoiler alert. Richard was a perfect gentleman and took pictures with all the women in the group that asked. Kudos to Richard Rawlings for letting us interrupt his day and allow us to browse the set. Elfrieda will never forget this trip. If we are lucky she will bring Richard to the meeting… Afterwards, we went to the Gas Monkey Bar and Grill. Kelly, I never found that Sushi on the menu! The place was packed and we hope it stays that way. While at the Gas Monkey (never thought I would say that, it still sounds funny) Gary offered to take us to a friend’s garage with a collection of cars. Gary Sheppard’s friend Bob Vint, invited us. To call it a garage is likened to calling my hangar a, well let’s just say the floors are beyond shiny and so are the cars. They are not all Corvettes but we won’t hold that against him. They weren’t all Dodges or Fords or Holdens either. We even saw a very collectable Honda 50 motorbike in absolute pristine condition. It would have to be a tossup which was more enjoyable and we have to thank Gary for that little side trip. Everything was “collectible” from the bathrooms decorations to the offices and especially the cars. Jim Hill looked like he was in Photographers heaven. Thanks Gary and thanks to David and Alex Capps for showing us around! This month we will have at least two important subjects to tackle. We will have a briefing on MSR day and Terry Varner has asked someone to brief us on Ruth’s Place. Please be ready to plead your case for your particular charity. I am going to plead the 5th on this one and let the club decide. I will try to have some information ready for the Boerne trip. See you at the meeting and please make out your check before leaving home. It will make it so much easier on our treasurer. Save the Wave. Chip 3 Newsletter April 2015 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT JOHN BRATTA Dear Friends; It’s hard to believe the first quarter of the year has gone by already. With it we happily leave the poor driving weather behind. So it is time to get the car polish out and get our cars ready for some activities. We did get to Mary’s Cafe, Texas de Brazil and the Gas Monkey during the first three months. Cruises that were all well attended and enjoyed! Looking ahead we have the Boerne Car Show in April; Track Days at Motorsport Ranch and the Texas Ranger Museum in May. We have our annual picnic in June and the 4th of July Parade and our Colorado trip for July. There is our 10th Annual Car Show, the Cowtown Car Show and the Sulphur Springs Car Show in October. There are also plans being made for a trip to Fredricksburg. We still have a need for cruises in June, August, September and November. There are many possibilities. Your volunteering just entails determining route and times and making eating reservations. That will give you the opportunity of leading a caravan of 12-25 beautiful Corvettes down the highway. Our club success comes from the efforts of our members. Kelly needs our help for our continued success. Your consideration is appreciated. Kelly can be reached at: 817-296-7554. Blessings to all of you! 4 Newsletter April 2015 March 2, 2015 BRCC MINUTES bY KIM SHEPPARD No Club Minutes The March 2, 2015 meeting of the Brazos River Corvette Club was canceled by the President Chip Mull and other BRCC Officers because of icy street conditions. 5 Newsletter April 2015 NCCC 56th Convention For additional links and forms go to: www.corvettesnccc.org/Convention2015.html 6 Newsletter April 2015 UPCOMING EVENTS BRCC 2015 Calendar The primary interest in our club is centered on activities.
