BLACK ROCK MINISTRIES
PRAY FOR OUR COMMUNITY:
GLOBAL MISSIONS:
Pray that Black Rock attendees and members will continue
inviting family, friends, neighbors or co-workers who need
to know that God loves them and has an awesome plan for
their lives. Pray also that many will come to Jesus during
the Easter season.
Dan and Krista Brown – Pray that Palimi-U Christians will be
deliberate, strong witnesses to their non-believing neighbors and
relatives. Pray also that church leaders will have godly wisdom
as they confront problems within the body of believers and face
challenges from the Yanomami community at large.
ADULT MINISTRY:
Jon and Valerie Brown – Pray for their family as they spend the
next few months on stateside assignment in Fairfield. Also pray
that, upon their return to Brazil, they can become more directly
and regularly involved in the development of infrastructure within
the village of Budu-U, so that a lasting missionary presence may
be established there until they have a self-sufficient church.
Pray that many at Black Rock will connect in meaningful
relationships and grow spiritually through our Community
Groups, Ownership steps and Starting Point classes during
the winter term.
CARE MINISTRY:
Pray for our Care Shepherds as they serve those who are ill,
isolated or otherwise in need within the Black Rock Church
family. Pray also for clear direction as the Care Leadership
Team (Deacons/Deaconesses) considers initiatives to better
serve our church and the greater community. Finally, pray for
those who are attending Grieving with Hope, a 13-week
grief management seminar.
KIDS MINISTRY:
Continue praying for our Kids Ministry staff and volunteers
as they share God’s love with children through service and
teaching. Also pray for the effective utilization of our new
facility, along with the staffing and programming details
involved in caring well for each child.
STAFF PERSON OF THE WEEK:
Danielle McGibbon – Preschool Area
STUDENT MINISTRY:
Pray for our Student Ministry staff and volunteers as they
seek to model Christ’s character in their lives to our youth
and influence students to form lifelong commitments to the
Savior. Pray also for spiritual transformation in the growing
number of students coming to Black Rock each week. Ask
God to guard hearts and minds as students encounter issues
that challenge their faith. Finally, pray for spiritual awakening
among educators and students in area middle and high schools.
WORSHIP MINISTRY:
Continue praying for our Worship Ministry teams as they
seek to glorify God through music and message each week.
Expressly pray for the effective use of our Worship Center
as a tool to creatively communicate the Gospel to our church
family and guests. Also pray for the members of our technical
team as they oversee the media and sound areas that are so
essential to our message. Finally, pray as preparations are
underway for Holy Week and Easter Sunday. Ask God to
empower the message and the music so that the lives of our
guests are changed.
Pat Butler – Pray for focus as Pat writes a book on the spiritual
formation of artists. Pray also as the leadership team brainstorms
ways to prioritize spiritual development among their artists in the
coming year. Finally, pray for God’s direction as she prepares for
retirement in a few years.
Gary and Kris Caffo – Pray for the protection and safety of their
field personnel who occupy sensitive areas of Eurasia. Pray also
for the digital publishing initiative aimed at bringing many new
Bible verses online so that they are available to local language
communities.
Brad and Kristen C. – Pray that God will grant wisdom to Brad
in his North African leadership role. Also pray for wisdom about
the most effective ways to engage North African immigrants who
live in their community. Finally, pray that the family will achieve
functional use of the Spanish language so that they may collaborate
with existing churches in reaching immigrants.
Jack and Judith Carpenter – Pray for God's leading as they serve
unaccompanied, homeless minors in their community and other
Maine neighborhoods wishing to develop a faith-based project
such as KITS. Pray also for the young men with whom Jack works
as they fight addiction and seek recovery with God's powerful
help. Lastly, pray that the Gospel will transform Springfield, MA
as the Carpenters work with inner-city kids and leaders.
Missionary of the Week – Autumn McGuyer
In November, Autumn and her team
members began a pioneering work
in Nosy Mitsio, a small island off
the coast of Madagascar. The team
is currently learning the culture and
language of the Antakarana people.
Pray for effective acquisition of the
language. Also pray that Autumn
will develop strong friendships with
those in her village. Finally, pray
