PRAYERREQUESTS SMITHTON & NAIRN CHURCH WIDER ISSUES We were saddened to hear that Calum MacDonald passed away last Friday. Please remember Joyce and the family at this sad time. The funeral will be on Saturday in Dingwall Free Church at 11am. (Calum was the treasurer there for many years) It was good to see Lachie and CJ MacDonald back with us again at the weekend.. Please remember them both and the children in your prayers. Pray for the work in South Uist and Benbecula and ask that God would work mightily in this area. Pray for new folk to come along to church. It was great to see such a big turn out on Sunday morning for worship. It was also encouraging to note we had 12 new members at the communion service. Please pray for these people. Give praise that God is working in our midst. Suffering Church Weekend. On Saturday we hope to have a coffee morning (10am - 12 noon) in aid of the suffering church throughout the world. There will also be an opportunity to buy books, watch a DVD and a time for prayer. Please come along and remember the event in your prayers . On Sunday the sermon will be on the theme of the suffering church. Murdo (Mud) flew out for a two week holiday to New Zealand yesterday. He is away primarily for his nieces wedding. Pray that he would have a good time and would come back refreshed. Please also pray for Roddy (Barvas) MacRae who will be taking the services on Sunday in Nairn. Give thanks for a good Bible Alive event this morning. The children showed great knowledge of the Bible through the questions, quizzes and activities. Pray that they would continue to read and learn from God’s word. Nairn Ladies Night: Pray that the ladies in Nairn would have a good night on Tuesday as they listen to Sarah Johnstone from Street Pastors in Elgin. We hope to have John preaching here in Smithton on Sunday. Please remember him as he prepares to bring God’s word to us. David is away preaching in Buccleuch, Edinburgh. Our Lunch Club meets every Tuesday at 12:30pm. We normally have around 15-20 people attending (as well as helpers.) Please remember this group in your prayers. Most of them are not Christians. Pray that the talk given to them each week will challenge them and that God would speak into their hearts. Ayr Free Church is hosting a special outreach event this Saturday when May Nicholson and a group from the Preshal Trust visit for an evening of worship and testimonies. People will be handing out invitations in the local community on Friday and Saturday, with a special emphasis on prayer throughout the week. The vision of the congregation is to reach the ‘unreached’ in the town, particularly those caught up in addictions. The event will be followed up by regular Road to Recovery type meetings, which begin the following week. Hundreds of delegates are set to gather in Dundee this weekend to discuss whether Christianity is “past its sell-by date”. Talks will explore concepts of ‘equality’, ‘liberty’ and ‘fraternity’ – the mantra of the French Revolution. Guest speakers include David Robertson, the next Free Church of Scotland Moderator, Rev Dr Sinclair Ferguson, and Nola Leach, chief executive of Christian charity CARE. Please pray for this event. Continue to intercede for Marsali and the team from Dwelling Places. Pray for the work they do rebuilding broken families and restoring broken individuals with the love of Jesus Christ. Their vision is "A society where every child has a chest to rest his head and a place to call home". Alistair and Jenny Wilson will be arriving back in Inverness on 8 December after working in Dumisani Theological Institute since 2006.
