PRAYERREQUESTS
SMITHTON & NAIRN CHURCH
WIDER ISSUES
We were saddened to hear that Calum MacDonald
passed away last Friday. Please remember Joyce
and the family at this sad time. The funeral will be on
Saturday in Dingwall Free Church at 11am. (Calum
was the treasurer there for many years)
It was good to see Lachie and CJ MacDonald
back with us again at the
weekend.. Please remember them both and the
children in your prayers.
Pray for the work in South
Uist and Benbecula and
ask that God would work mightily in this area.
Pray for new folk to come along to church.
It was great to see such a big turn out on Sunday
morning for worship. It was also encouraging to note
we had 12 new members at the communion service.
Please pray for these people. Give praise that God is
working in our midst.
Suffering Church Weekend. On Saturday we hope
to have a coffee morning (10am
- 12 noon) in aid of the suffering
church throughout the world.
There will also be an opportunity to buy books, watch a DVD
and a time for prayer. Please
come along and remember the event in your prayers .
On Sunday the sermon will be on the theme of the
suffering church.
Murdo (Mud) flew out for a two week holiday to
New Zealand yesterday. He is away primarily for his
nieces wedding. Pray that he would have a good time
and would come back refreshed. Please also pray for
Roddy (Barvas) MacRae who will be taking the services on Sunday in Nairn.
Give thanks for a good Bible Alive event this morning.
The children showed great knowledge of
the Bible through the questions, quizzes and
activities. Pray that they would continue to
read and learn from God’s word.
Nairn Ladies Night: Pray that the ladies in Nairn
would have a good night on Tuesday as they listen to
Sarah Johnstone from Street Pastors in Elgin.
We hope to have John preaching here in Smithton on
Sunday. Please remember him as he prepares to
bring God’s word to us. David is away preaching in
Buccleuch, Edinburgh.
Our Lunch Club meets every Tuesday at 12:30pm.
We normally have around 15-20 people attending (as
well as helpers.) Please remember this group in your
prayers. Most of them are not Christians. Pray that
the talk given to them each week will challenge them
and that God would speak into their hearts.
Ayr Free Church is hosting a special outreach event this Saturday when May Nicholson
and a group from the Preshal Trust visit for an
evening of worship and testimonies. People will
be handing out invitations in the local community on Friday and Saturday, with a special emphasis on prayer throughout the week. The
vision of the congregation is to reach the
‘unreached’ in the town, particularly those
caught up in addictions. The event will be followed up by regular Road to Recovery type
meetings, which begin the following week.
Hundreds of delegates are set to gather in Dundee this weekend to discuss
whether Christianity is “past
its sell-by date”. Talks will explore concepts of ‘equality’,
‘liberty’ and ‘fraternity’ – the
mantra of the French Revolution. Guest speakers include
David Robertson, the next Free Church of Scotland Moderator, Rev Dr Sinclair Ferguson, and
Nola Leach, chief executive of Christian charity
CARE. Please pray for this event.
Continue to intercede for Marsali and the team
from Dwelling Places. Pray for the work they do
rebuilding broken families and restoring broken
individuals with the love of Jesus Christ. Their
vision is "A society where every child has a
chest to rest his head and a place to call home".
Alistair and Jenny Wilson will be arriving
back in Inverness on 8 December after working
in Dumisani Theological Institute since 2006.
Please pray for them as they pack their belongings and prepare to move home.
