Officer Election Process
September 1, 2014 to September 30, 2015
This document outlines the DC Asthma Coalition (DCAC) officer election process for the
period of September 1, 2014 to September 30, 2015. The DCAC officer election process
was developed by the DCAC ad hoc Structure Team between November 2014 and
May 2015.
Officer Positions and Duties
DCAC has three (3) elected officer positions: (1) Chair, (2) Vice Chair, and (3)
Secretary/Treasurer. The annual time commitment for each position is estimated to be
34 hours, wherefore 4 hours is counted on DCAC meeting months, and 2 hours on the
remaining.

Nominations
Eligibility criteria for nominations is applicable for both nominators and nominees. Selfnominations are acceptable.

Timeline of Officer Election Process

The DCAC Officer Election Process will follow the timeline above, and is detailed below:





DCAC membership registration
o Time period: 5/21/15 to 6/5/15
o Explanation: As of May 20, 2015, there was not a DCAC formalized process to
accept and register members for the DCAC. Beginning May 21, 2015, the DCAC
will register members using a form in order to formerly recognize membership.
Nominations
o Time period: 6/8/15 to 6/22/15
o Explanation: During this period, eligible DCAC members may use a DCAC
Elected Officers Nomination form to nominate an eligible DCAC member for each
of the DCAC Elected Officer positions. No represented affiliated organization
may cast more than three (3) votes for a single DCAC Elected Officer position.
Counting
o Time period: 7/20/15 to 7/23/15
o Explanation: During this period, the DCAC ad hoc Structure Team will count
votes for each of the DCAC Elected Officer positions. The successful DCAC
Elected Officer nominee is determined by plurality. In the event of a tie for any
DCAC Elected Officer position, the Structure Team, and DCAC Team Leaders,
will meet to discuss the tie, and will make the final determination based on
qualitative information. In the event of a tie, no DCAC member who is a member
of the Structure Team or a Team Leader will be part of the final determination
process. The DCAC Structure Team will resolve other discrepancies, as
necessary.
Announcements
o Time period: 7/23/15
o Explanation: The DCAC Structure Team will announce to the DCAC only
successful DCAC Elected Officer nominees via email.
Onboarding
o Time period: 7/27/15 – 8/7/15
o Explanation: The DCAC fiscal agent will meet with DCAC Elected Officers as a
group, or individually, to provide more details on DCAC processes and
programmatic information.
