Brooklyn Track and Field Jamboree Tuesday, May 5, 2015 Over the past few weeks, our students have been participating in Track and Field practices as part of their regular physical education class. On Tuesday, May 5th, all of our students in grades 4 through 7 will be heading down to the Vanier track to participate in a Track and Field Jamboree. The Jamboree is an opportunity for all students to participate in as many Track and Field events as they wish, with only three other schools to compete against- Robb Road, Beachcombers and Arden Elementary. There are also a variety of fun activities that will take place in various areas around the track, for students to choose in between events. Students are asked to wear a blue shirt as we will not have enough Brooklyn school jerseys to go around. Students will be transported by school bus, to and from the track, leaving the school at 8:45 a.m. and returning just before regular dismissal at 2:30 p.m. Please ensure that your child arrives at school on time! Students will need to dress appropriately for the weather, wear sunscreen and a hat if needed, and bring a lunch, snacks and water. There will be a concession available at the track. The Sports Centre and Vanier School are out of bounds to all students. The Meet will be cancelled if weather is terrible. All students will attend the Jamboree. If they are unable to participate, please send a note to explain. We will do our best to find a role for them in helping out at one of the events. Parents are, of course, welcome to come and cheer the students on. A schedule will be posted on the website later. If you would like to volunteer some of your time to help out at the Meet, please complete the bottom volunteer section of the form and send it to the office. The concession will also be run by Grade 7 Brooklyn Parents with proceeds going towards the Grade 7 end of the year camping trip.
