Important Information for BHS Students Taking 2015 AP Exams Exciting news! The State of North Carolina will be paying for all AP exams for students enrolled in the corresponding AP course. This does not include late exam fee or unused exam fee. If a student registers for an exam and does not show up to take the exam, they will be fined $15 unused exam fee. This fee is charged to the school by CollegeBoard. th Students taking AM exams should be back on campus for the entire 4 period, if not before. st nd Students taking PM exams should attend 1 and 2 periods before leaving. This will allow enough time to eat lunch and arrive at the testing location in time to be seated by 11:45 am unless otherwise directed. Afternoon testing will last beyond the normal school day. Students should advise teachers whose classes they will miss to avoid being marked absent. Students taking TWO exams in one day (AM & PM) will need to bring a bag lunch with them on testing day. IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR STUDENTS: For detailed information on each exam, visit: www.collegeboard.com/apstudents NO CELL PHONES or electronic devices of students will be allowed in the buildings. Leave them at home or in your car. If you need to call your ride the test administrators will have a phone. Be on time. No one will be admitted to the testing room once the testing has begun. AM exams – arrive no later than 7:45 am PM exams – arrive no later than11:45 am unless instructed otherwise by Student Services (if the previous exam is not finished – please wait outside patiently!) There will be a clock in each testing room – if you have a watch it must not beep or alarm. ALL seating will be assigned by the test administrator, students look for their student packs. Bring your own sharpened #2 pencils, pens with dark blue or black ink, and a candidate pack if taking 2 exams in one day. If taking an exam which requires a calculator, bring an approved calculator with fresh batteries. Remember – no mechanical pencils! Do not bring: books, scratch paper, any other school materials or electronics of any sort (including cell phones, iPods, iPads, etc...) Not all exams are given at Broughton – check for locations so you can arrange necessary transportation. Allow enough time to travel there safely, park and find your seat. Review the Bulletin for AP Students and Parents 2014-2015– for exam length add approx. 30 minutes for completing general information before the exam begins. Students are not allowed to bring food or drink into the testing room unless approved by College Board (i.e. for medical reasons) Afternoon exams often last until after 4:00 pm. No one will be allowed to leave early. Students approved for modifications by College Board will test at Broughton. ONE LAST THING: NO CELL PHONES OR ELECTRONIC DEVICES. We mean it! If you are found with one – the phone can be confiscated, your scores can be cancelled & you can be sent home. The proctor for each exam will have a phone in the event of an emergency. REFUND POLICY If students choose not to take the exam and wish to request a $45 refund, the request must be made in writing (not by email) to Mrs. Wapner by Friday, April 24, 2015. No refunds for no shows to exams. Students and Parents must review the 2014-2015 AP Bulletin before taking exams. Students will receive a copy of the bulletin at the Pre-Administration session. MANDATORY PRE-ADMINISTRATION SESSIONS: Students will be required to attend ONE pre-administration session in the Auditorium. Sessions will begin promptly & last 30-40 minutes. Students must arrive early to start on time. No one may leave early. NCSU Centennial Campus- parking directions will be emailed prior to the exam. Please DO NOT call the locations if you have questions – they are only opening their space – and will not be able to answer any AP questions. Call Broughton with questions @ 919-856-7830. Remember – on one will be allowed in once the exam has begun. No one is allowed to leave an exam early. NO EXCEPTIONS!
