Graduate Fellow Positions 2015-16
The Office of Residential Life is hiring for Graduate Fellows to work with our thriving undergraduate student body for the
2015-2016 academic year. The Graduate Fellow will work approximately 15 hours a week, which will primarily be night and
weekend hours. (Please note that this will fluctuate throughout the year.)
POSITIONS AVAILABLE:
RESIDENTIAL COLLEGE
The Graduate Fellow for the Residential College will work in close collaboration with the Residential College Director (RCD) to
support the Residential College through program development and implementation, and the Office of Residential Life through
work with different focus areas. Graduate Fellows report to a Residential College Director (RCD.) The duties of the Graduate
Fellow may vary depending on the mission of the individual Residential College.
NORTH SIDE
The Graduate Fellow for the North Side will work with a Residential Community Director (RCD) to assist in North Side
programming. Specifically, they will provide any necessary support to the North Side Association (NSA). Furthermore, the
Graduate Fellow will play a vital role in promoting holistic student development by supporting the goals of the North Side.
While the Graduate Fellow will report directly to the On-Campus Apartments RCD, it is expected that the Graduate Fellow
work closely with Village office staff, Central office staff, and student leaders. In consultation with the RCD, the Graduate
Fellow will be assigned duties with regard to professional interests, experience, and skill development.
SOCIAL JUSTICE CENTER
The Graduate Fellow for the Social Justice Center will work in close collaboration with the Residential College Directors (RCDs),
RAs, and Leadership Council to support the SJC through program development, mentorship, advising, and campus outreach.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED OF ALL GRADUATE FELLOWS
• Must be a full-time graduate student through the end of the 2015-2016 academic year
• Previous experience in Residential Life, Student Affairs, or advising is preferred
• Professionalism and respect for and commitment to student development and student initiative
• Valid Driver’s License and willingness to drive departmental vehicles
COMPENSATION
The Graduate Fellow will receive $9/hr. averaging 15 hours a week for 44 weeks paid over a 10 month period (August – May),
in addition to either a parking permit or small meal plan. Housing is not included for the Graduate Fellow.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Graduate Fellows are expected to begin work in early August. There will be some flexibility during the month of August to get
your academic and personal affairs in order, but all GFs must be in St. Louis at the beginning of the month and accessible by
phone and e-mail. The following events, however, are mandatory: GF Training (8/3 – 8/7); RA Training (8/7 – 8/19); Freshmen
Move-In (8/20); and Winter Training (1/8 – 1/10). In addition, Graduate Fellows assist with the closing of halls in December
and May, as well as end of the semester activities. Monday evenings (7-11 pm) should be held for staff meetings and trainings.
GFs are expected to have all of these days available in their schedules and to participate fully in the programs that take place
then. Outside of academics, the graduate fellow position should be a priority.
