This is the last
newsletter for the term so
first off there are a couple of very
important announcements.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Next Wednesday 24 June is dedicated to our parent
teacher interviews; this means there is a variation to our
normal school day. School will open at 1:00pm and close at 7:00pm. There are no classes being held on this day.
Students may attend school with their parents, to meet
with their teachers at their designated appointment time.
OSHC is running a full day program to assist
families with childcare arrangements from 8:00am
until 6:00pm. If you wish to book a place on the day,
please contact OSHC directly.
Please remember that students cannot be left
unsupervised in the school at any time.
We wish Lena and Brett the very best and thank them both
for the wonderful contributions they have made to BSPS.

Shaun will be taking up the role of Acting Principal at
Brunswick North West Primary School for next term. Shaun’s secondment concludes at the end of Term 3 and
we look forward to seeing him back here in Term 4. Congratulations Shaun.
S
We expect to have selected our new Acting Assistant
Principal by the end of this week. We’ve had a huge
response to our call for Expressions of Interest and the
calibre of the applicants is outstanding. This is a fantastic
opportunity for an aspirant principal to join our wonderful
community and also for us, as they will bring a range of
different skills to the position and bring some fresh eyes
to the table.
School Council
School Council met twice over the last two weeks. We took the opportunity to conduct a special planning
meeting to look closely at some of our school data and
finalise the Annual Report for 2014.
This Report will be emailed out to families as well as
posted on the A-Z section of our website; and hard copies
will be available from the office by the end of term.
JSC
Final Assembly
Next week our final assembly starts at 2:00pm on Friday
afternoon with students being dismissed at 2:30. If you
have the time to attend, it will be well worth while and
I’m sure you will be amazed by the high standard of the
student performances we have scheduled.

Staff News
At the end of this term Lena is leaving us to continue
her studies and perhaps take her career in a different
direction. Brett is also leaving as he and his family are
moving to Queensland.
A great BIG ‘Congratulations!’ goes out to our Junior
School Council and their helpers, for organising such
a successful and enjoyable Science Day last week; so
much colour and so much fun! The level of support for
this event once again highlights what an amazing school
community we have and although the impact may not be
overt, community involvement has significant impact on
student learning.

The workshop will involve varying

woodwork, cardboard cutting, painting

relaxed and most definitely creative!
It would be absolutely excellent

Fireworks in a Jar experiment!
What effect will oil have on
water and food dye?
Predictions:
Caitlin I thought the oil and
water might turn green and blue!
Baxter I thought the colours
would turn black.
Eva At the start, I thought that it
would turn out as rainbow water.
Carlo I thought it would make
a little wave at the top.
Observations:
Erin The green and blue rain drops sank
to the bottom, and then they changed
into a different colour, which was black.
Benji The greenish blue dropped down
quick and then it slowed down.
Genevieve The oil stayed where it is.
The colours all mixed in with the water!

Fundraising Update
Happy winter season to everyone!
Calling the Bakers & the Sweet Makers!
We will be having a cake stall after assembly on the
last day of term and we need all the trusty bakers and
makers out there to drop off something delightful and
delicious to the staff room on Friday 26 June. We will
leave some cake plates and instructions in the office,
just grab one or 20 and bake till you can’t bake no more!
Still looking for Jars & Clothes If you have these
items drop ‘em to the office.
The Skate Night Flyers have gone out in bags –don’t
miss out on what will be LOADS of fun! Invite your friends
and family too – they’ll have a great time rolling about.
Bookings at http://www.trybooking.com/IAYP
Cupboards, Shelves & Other Storage Wanted!
We cleaned out the container at the back of the school
and it is just so lovely inside now. Except.. a bit on the
empty side. Do you have a cupboard, or shelves that
you don’t need anymore? We’d love anything that locks
(like the old metal cupboards) but would be very happy
with shelving of any kind! Can you email us with a pic at
[email protected]?
Ciao Down Tuesday
Thanks to all the kids and parents that are supporting our
Ciao Down Sizzle – we are hoping that after the holidays
we’ll be busting out some new menu items and delighting
tastebuds everywhere. Just one more sizzle this coming
Tuesday – don’t forget to send them to school with their
$3 if your child feels like a sausage or a vegie burger.
BSPS CRAFTERS
The BSPS crafters are up and running with a full
calendar of workshops. We are running small, friendly
workshops in:
•Jam and preserve making
•Crochet 101
•Screenprinting 101
•Sewing 101
•Macramé plant hanger making
•Jewellry making
•Pom-pom garland making
•Hand-built pottery
You don’t have to be crafty to join. Our mums are
enjoying passing on their skills to others and we are
all learning together! We are also looking for talented
mums who could lend their skills to the craft group.
Email [email protected] if you are interested in
joining or have any questions.
Please note: some workshops will have a small fee to
cover materials costs.
ITALIAN CLASS
Italian Class for adults at BSPS is ready to
commence in Term 3!
It will be a beginners level class for any interested adults,
and will be held from 7.30 – 9pm on Mondays, starting
13 July (first day of Term 3).
We will hold the classes at the school, and they will be
taught by an experienced language teacher, Stefania
Silvestri, who also works at the Lyceum Language School.
The fee for the ten week term will be about $150 – $200
per person, depending on the number of participants that
we have.
We hope that this will be a fun and relaxed way to extend
our children’s language skills at home by improving our
own! All parents, carers and friends are welcome.
If you are interested in participating please email the school
office on [email protected]
