We saw many great swims and much improvement through the first month of practices. More great swims will come during this summer’s meets! Meets usually run from morning to mid-afternoon. Events usually start with preliminary races, then relays, and finish with final races. Bring sun screen, spare towels, extra swim suits, lots of water, healthy food, and entertainment for the day. It can be very hot in the summer heat - stay hydrated and stay in the shade! Warmups are important It is important for kids to warm up in the pool to get acclimatized to the different environment, diving blocks, etc. Swimmers start with 10-minute activation then 15-30 minute pool warm up. Warm up times will be announced by email in the days leading up to the swim meet. Parents of younger swimmers are welcome to accompany their kids to the warmup but are reminded to stay outside the deck area where only swimmers, coaches, and officials are permitted. After the warmup, the kids are released to return to their camp and stay warm! Check in at the Coaches’ Table Relays are the most fun of all the events - try and stay for those! In the morning, let the coaches know if you can or cannot stay for relays or finals so we can organize relay teams. The list of teams will be posted in the camping area by midday. Check in with your coach at the coaches’ table before each of your events for racing or technical reminders. Make sure you leave enough time to talk to your coach before you check in to the Clerk of the Course. Your meet is over once you’ve raced your last event; this can sometimes take longer if there are finals. You are always welcome to stay and cheer for the Mantas swimmers. Make sure you check in with coaches before leaving and Go Mantas Go!
