You will also receive a 10% discount on purchases in the gift store. 2015 SPEAKERS DIRECTIONS TO WESTMORELAND COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE Daniel Barr is University Professor of Early American History at Robert Morris University in suburban Pittsburgh and lives in Mercer, PA. He earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Slippery Rock University in the 1990s and his Ph.D. from Kent State University in 2001. Dr. Barr is the author of numerous scholarly articles and books including; “The Boundaries Between Us: Natives and Newcomers along the Frontiers of the Old Northwest Territory, 1750-1850” and “Unconquered: The Iroquois League at War in Colonial America.” His presentation is drawn, in part, from his latest book, “A Colony Sprung from Hell: Pittsburgh and the Struggle for Authority on the Western Pennsylvania Frontier, 17441794” (Kent State University Press, 2014). William Hunt is a historian and a “historical interpreter” of the French and Indian War and the American Revolution. His family roots can be traced back to 1642 in Virginia. Andrew Montour has been a favorite subject of Bill for many years and he has presented him in the West Virginia Humanities Council “History Alive” program since 2006. He has also presented him in several local states and most recently in Andrew’s home site of Montoursville, PA. Bill is a graduate of West Virginia State University and served as a Captain in the U.S. Army. He currently resides in Charleston, WV where he works as a training officer with the West Virginia Division of Corrections. James Blake is an independent historian, author and traditional craftsman. He is a contributing author to Muzzleblast Magazine and Journal of the Early Americas and a fulltime staff writer for Muzzleloader Magazine. His historically and authentically made reproductions are housed in many museums and private collections around the world. James lives in Wheeling, WV and is currently co-authoring a book on the subject of Native American imagery, privately funded and backed by an independent benefactor. Kevin Kopper is an Assistant Professor of History at Westmoreland County Community College where he serves as Coordinator of History, Political Science and Geography. He earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Slippery Rock University and his Ph.D. from Kent State University. His research interests focus on frontier administration in Pennsylvania and the Northwest Territory during the colonial and early national periods. His master’s thesis, “War in the Pennsylvania Wilderness: A History of Fort Bedford,” chronicles the important role the outpost played in Pennsylvania’s expansion. Kevin has edited “The Journals of George Washington and Christopher Gist: Mission to Fort Leboeuf” and he will appear this spring on Pennsylvania’s Cable Network (PCN) “Battlefield Pennsylvania” to discuss his research. Douglas Cubbison is currently the Curator for the Wyoming Veterans Memorial Museum in Casper, Wyoming. He earned his BA in History from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and has served for over ten years active and reserve duty as a U.S. Army Field Artillery Officer. He has previously served as a Military Historian with the U.S. Army Combat Studies Institute at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; as Command Historian with the 10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum, NY and as Cultural Resources Manager at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He is a widely published professional Military Historian with several books including; “The British Defeat of the French in Pennsylvania in 1758, A Military History of the Forbes Campaign Against Fort Duquesne,” “The American Northern Theater Army in 1776, The Ruin and Reconstruction of the Continental Force” and “All Canada in the Hands of the British” - General Jeffery Amherst and the 1760 Campaign to Conquer Canada.” Doug lives in Casper where he is the Sheriff of the Casper Posse of Westerners International. His current research efforts focus on the role of the U.S. Army in Wyoming and Montana during the Indian Wars period. William Nester is a professor in the department of Government and Politics at St. John’s University in New York City. He received his BA in international studies and history from Miami University of Ohio and his MA and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He taught at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London before coming to St. John’s University in 1989. He has thirty-seven published books on international relations, national security and the nature of power. His George Rogers Clark: “I Glory In War” won the Army Historical Foundation’s best biography award for 2013.
