Advocate Pria Hassan – Chief Executive xecutive Officer: Women of Africa Adv Pria Hassan graduated from the University of Natal with a law degree in the 1990’s. With a vision to “boldly go where no women have gone before”, Adv Pria Hassan established the Women of Africa (WOA) Investment Group in 2005 to enter traditionally male-dominated male dominated industry sectors and create the first women’s empowerment group in KwaZulu-Natal. KwaZulu Natal. The group enjoyed sustainable growth, diversifying into logistics, pharmaceuticals, engineering, project management and mining sectors. In 2007 Pria established WOA WOA Fuels and Oils to expand the group’s existing portfolio into the fuels, lubricants, minerals and energy sectors. It’s extensive networks, solid reputation as a company of integrity, industry expertise as well as its broad ranging partner relationships with private and state state-owned owned finance organizations assisted WOA’s growth into Africa Adv Pria Hassan’s commitment to women empowerment is evidenced by her long history of panel speaking nationally and internationally. She has spoken at the Women in Business Busine and Leadership Conference held in Gaborone Gaborone, Botswana 2014; the Women in the Energy Industry conference which focused on “Creating Smart Policies to Empower Empower Africa’s Women in Energy”; and the World Health Conference Participation in Women in Leadership to to name a few. Hassan won the Top Black Female Entrepreneur at The Metropolitan Oliver Empowerment Awards in 2011. She was named Women of the year 2012 by CNBC All Africa Business Leader, and the country and regional winner in the Wholesale Sector for the South Africa’s Most Influential Women in Business and Government Award 2014. She has recently also been named as a finalist in the Ernst and Young World Entrepreneur Award. She hopes to continue to channel her resources and access her networks to the benefit nefit of nurturing the Business Women’s Association of South Africa. She believes that the BWA SA will be directly responsible for building the future generation of leaders that we are going to need in Africa
