First Announcement
Presentation and objectives
Organic compounds from synthetic and natural
sources are receiving increasingly greater
attention in the scientific community, in medicine,
and in the world economy in general. The
development of new synthetic strategies,
reactions, catalysts and the design of new
molecular entities has a great importance for the
new applications in Organic Chemistry. Natural
products specially have benefited greatly in recent
years from the interaction of the study of
traditional ethnobotanical knowledge and the
application of modem phytochemical analysis and
biological activity studies to medicinal plants. For
countries which harbor rich biodiversity, the study
of natural products offers an important way of
developing one’s natural resources.
In this context, after the success of the other
editions, the 5th Spanish-Moroccan Symposium
on Organic Chemistry (SMSOC-5) and 8th
Andalusian-Moroccan Meeting on Natural
Products Chemistry (AMMNPC-8) will be
organized in october 22-24th, 2015 in
Mohammedia-Morocco. Like the other editions,
the 5th SMSOC will set the stage for interaction
between students and young researchers with
scientists from Spain and Morocco, providing
opportunities to exchange thoughts and ideas on
organic chemistry. It will be also an ideal forum to
bring together all the stakeholders in the natural
product sectors to share, widen their experience
and expertise in this field.

The 5th SMSOC and the 8th NAMMNPC scientific
program covers all shares of the research on
organic chemistry including natural products
chemistry (evaluation and identification of
phytoconstituents, analytical techniques in
phytochemistry, synthesis or semi-synthesis of
natural products, toxicology studies of Plant
Products, and ethnopharmacology).
