BOAT ENTRANT APPLICATION
The Wooden Boat Festival is an annual public event. Its mission is to honor the heritage of Newport Harbor and
the craftsmanship of wooden boats. Net proceeds from the event will support the maritime education of youth as
the next generation of seafarers and protectors of our waterways. We hope that you will join us in celebrating our
seaside community.

LOCATION
The Wooden Boat Festival is held on the waterfront of Balboa Yacht Club, 1801 Bayside Drive, Corona del Mar,
CA 92625.
ELIGIBILITY
Participation in the Wooden Boat Festival is by invitation. Wooden boats must be show-ready. The application
deadline is 5:00 pm PST, Tuesday, March 31, 2015. The application must be complete and include ALL items:
$100 for in-water boats/$50 for on land boats; high resolution (300 dpi minimum) color photograph of the entry;
description of boat and history. Entry fee will be returned if applicant is not accepted to show. Additional
applications are available online at www.bycwoodenboatfestival.com, at Balboa Yacht Club front office; by calling
(949) 673-3515.
INSURANCE
All accepted participants will sign a Disclaimer of Liability and return to BYC along with a copy of the boat owner’s
Document of Insurance no later than June 1, 2015.
SELECTION PROCESS
A Selection Committee will review each application for fulfillment of eligibility requirements and show quality of the
boat. The WBF committee reserves the right to reject an application at its discretion. Space is limited to 50 boats
and applications are considered on a first-come, first served basis. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by
email and telephone.
CHECK-IN
Boat entrants must pick up participant packets at Check-In for dock/space assignment.

BOAT PLACEMENT
The WBF Logistics Committee will assign in-water and on-land spaces for entrants on a first-come, first-served
basis. WBF has a limited number of spaces for both in-the-water and trailered vessels. Location will be assigned
to accepted vehicles based on the date the application was received and special requirements.
IDENTIFICATION
All exhibitors must wear their WBF badge while on BYC grounds.
PARKING
No vehicles are allowed on site after 9 am Saturday, June 6, 2015. There will be no street parking. No vehicles
may be left unattended on BYC grounds at any time. A free offsite parking shuttle will run all day Saturday, June
6, 2015, to the Wooden Boat Festival at BYC.
PEOPLE’S CHOICE
Festival visitors will vote for their favorite boat in each class. A minimum of 3 vessels is required for the WBF to
establish a class. Classes may be added/deleted at the Festival Committee’s discretion. One trophy will be
awarded in each class by public vote in addition to the Mayor’s, Commodore’s and Harbor Master’s Choice
selections.

BOAT INVITATIONS
All applications will be considered for acceptance based on quality, local interest, and timely response. Accepted
applicants will be invited by email by April 15, 2015 to bring the boat to BYC on Friday, June 5 to exhibit on June
6, 2015. Every boat owner must provide proof that adequate liability insurance is in force and provide the
specifications and history for the featured vessel as set forth on Boat Entrant’s Application. All boats must be
ready for visitors by 9 am Saturday morning and will remain until 5 pm that day. If you do not want visitors on
board, please let us know and we will provide signage advising the public of viewing privileges only.

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
The vessel Owner/Exhibitor agrees that Balboa Yacht Club (BYC), its Officers, Directors and staff, will be held
harmless from liability for damages arising from any accident caused by Owner including injury to Owner or
damage to Owner’s property, and that Owner’s participation in this event is entirely at Owner’s risk. Owner will be
responsible for any damage to BYC property and any other Owner/Exhibitor’s property, BYC will not accept any
liability for property damage or personal injury or death sustained prior to, during, or after the event.
