Lot # / Name
Description
1. Stillwell Spy*
15.1hh, 5-year-old registered bay Morgan gelding. “Spy” is currently
being trained by an independent study rider. He is very sweet and has
great ground manners. Though he is still green, he always tries to please
his rider and does everything that is asked of him. He is very energetic
towards his job and is eager to learn and has the potential to be a great
horse in any program
2. Aly
16hh, 6-year-old registered chestnut Thoroughbred mare. Aly would
make a great hunter prospect. She is broke on the flat with a lofty trot
and rocking horse canter, and has been slowly started over fences. She is
honest and a quick learner. Aly is best suited for an intermediate or
advanced rider as she is still green over fences. She aims to please and is
willing to try anything asked of her.
3. Odie
16.1hh, 13-year-old chestnut Thoroughbred. Odie is in our Polo program.
He is very quiet, sweet and easy to work around. He has smooth gaits,
making for a comfortable ride. He has also shown to have potential as a
bomb-proof trail horse. He neck reins easily and is very responsive to his
rider.
4. Firecracker
Donkey gelding. This is Mr. Personality! Very sweet, loves attention and
easy to handle. Likes to "just hang out" with people. Although he is in
his mid-20s, he is very playful with the other donkeys and horses,
especially the youngsters. He would make a great companion for any
equine. He is good for the farrier and the vet and has no known health
conditions.
CT Department of Agriculture – Equine Rescue Program
5. UC Mischief
Managed*
6. Duchess
7. Tri
15.1hh, 4-year-old registered bay Morgan mare. Mischief is a recent
graduate of our Light Horse training program. She has been developing
her walk, trot and canter under English saddle this past fall. She has a
smooth walk, trot, and canter. Her determined and quick learning
character makes her a good prospect for any discipline. Because Mischief
is still green, she would best be suited for an intermediate rider.
16hh, 15-year-old bay Thoroughbred mare. This gorgeous bay mare
came to us as a Polo prospect, but we found that she was better suited for
the UConn equitation program. She is an attractive individual suited for
an advanced rider and a great prospect for equitation and hunters. She is
well broke on the flat and has been started over fences. She is very brave
and a quick, willing learner.
Tri is a donkey in her late 20's, easy to handle and very gentle. She is
quiet natured, gets along with everyone and anything on the farm. She
enjoys being groomed and sunbathing. She has no vices and is good for
the farrier and vet. She has no known health conditions.
CT Department of Agriculture – Equine Rescue Program
8. Rubicon*
16hh, 16-year-old bay Oldenburg gelding. Rubicon is a gentleman in the
saddle and has a background in dressage. He likes to jump, has a big
stride, and would be suitable for the lower level hunters. Here at UConn,
Rubicon has also participated and shined in both intercollegiate dressage
and hunt seat shows. Currently schooling second level dressage
movements. Rubicon would be best suited for an intermediate rider.
9. Nantucket Sound*
14.2hh, 9-year-old registered bay Morgan gelding. “Tuck” came to
UConn in training and has been put into the lesson program and is a
member of the UConn Drill Team. He goes both English and Western,
and is very responsive on the flat. He is best suited for an intermediate or
advanced rider as he needs help from his rider over fences. He is willing
to learn, excited about his job and very easy to work around. Tuck also
enjoys trails and is very brave on them.
10. Mama Mia
15.2hh, 13 year old bay Thoroughbred mare. She is part of the UConn
Polo Program, but would be great as a pleasure horse. Mama is a retired
high goal Polo pony that is fearless and willing. She can be strong,
revealing her passion, but has an easygoing temperament. Experienced
Rider.
11. UC Aries*
15.1hh, 13-year-old registered chestnut Morgan gelding. “Aries” is a
pleasure to ride and has been used in dressage, western, and hunt seat
shows here at UConn. He has schooled first level dressage movements,
and also is used for reining and western horsemanship as well as the
UConn Drill Team. He is good on trails and would be best suited for an
intermediate rider.
12. Moss
15-year-old female mule. Moss is gentle but spunky! She enjoys running
around and playing with her herd mates. She likes to be in charge of the
others, but is not aggressive about it. She is easy to handle but can be a
bit timid with new situations. When she does get nervous, she is a "stop
and stare" kind of girl. No vices and good for the farrier and vet.
CT Department of Agriculture – Equine Rescue Program
13. One Hot Tamale
15.3hh, 9-year-old registered bay Morgan mare. At UConn, Tamale has
been through our training, lesson and breeding program. She has a
natural head set and has won blue ribbons as a hunter pleasure horse. She
has been broke to drive through our training program. An intermediate
rider with soft hands would be best suited for this mare. Great pedigree
to boot!
14. Isis
14.2hh, 25-year-old grey Arab mare. Isis is the typical princess, she loves
attention, grooming and running around showing off. She is not a fan of
other horses, but thrives on human affection. She is not spooky and is
wonderful for the vet and the farrier. She is the horse that we use to
teach new workers all about handling horses, and is beginner safe as far
as ground work goes. Isis is broke to ride, but is very rusty and needs
some saddle time. She has some minor arthritis in her hocks, but has had
no major health issues that we know of. Isis has been owned by the state
for several years and is having a hard time finding a forever home, but
she is a wonderful mare and would make someone a lovely riding
partner.
CT Department of Agriculture – Equine Rescue Program
15. Hipp’s Ballerina
14.2hh, 12-year-old bay Morgan mare. “Belle” is trained for the hunter
pleasure division. She is a smart, quick learner and easy to get along
with. She would be best suited for an intermediate to advanced rider.
Belle has a great pedigree to match her personality.
16. Angie
15.3hh, 12 year old bay Thoroughbred mare. Angie is a very quiet mare
with good ground manners. She gets along well with other horses. Angie
has been used in UConn’s Polo program. She will make a good school
horse with the right training.
