Faculty and Staff Discount Available for Kids'
STEM Summer Camp
Two sessions of Kids Learn STEM summer camp
will be offered July 13-17 and 20-24, available to
fifth- through eighth-grade students. The sessions
will feature hands-on learning about forensics in a
Learn by Doing Lab from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. each
day. Discounts are available to faculty and staff,
though discounted spaces are limited and will be
reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. To

One-on-One Financial Counseling Available
April 8
Human Resources has arranged for individual
financial counseling sessions between 9 a.m. and
5 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, in the Administration
Building (No. 1), Room 124. The sessions are by
appointment only and subject to supervisory
approval and department operational needs. The
sessions will be presented by Michael Johns, a
financial advisor with TIAA-CREF. To register,

Presentation on Surviving an Active Shooter
to be Held April 23
George Hughes, chief of University Police, will
present “Seconds to Save Lives: Surviving an
Active Shooter Incident” from 9:30 to 11 a.m. April
23, in Chumash Auditorium. The program will
provide an overview of proactive safety measures
for an active shooter situation, how law
enforcement responds, and what people on
campus can do to increase personal safety. The
event is open to faculty, staff and students. For

Tomato Mania Plant Sale April 11-12
More than 65 varieties of tomato plants will be
available at the annual Tomato Mania plant sale
Friday and Saturday, April 11 and 12, at the Poly
Plant Shop. Moonglow, Beefsteak, Shady Lady,
Alaskan Fancy, and a selection of cherry tomato
plants are just some of the varieties that will be
available. The 2015 program is directed by a team
of six students who have grown more than 5,000
tomato plants from seed to provide home
gardeners with quality plants that will produce
fresh tomatoes throughout the summer. The Poly
Plant Shop is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., located
on Via Carta Road in Building 48.
