CAMBA HOSTS 24TH ANNUAL SHONA AFRICAN SCULPTURE BENEFIT SALE,
MARCH 26 - 29, 2015
ZIMBABWE SCULPTURE SALE BENEFITS SERVICES TO 45,000 NEW YORKERS CITYWIDE
CAMBA, a Brooklyn-based multi-service organization, will host its 24th Annual Shona Benefit Sale
on March 26 - 29 at its sculpture gallery at 19 Winthrop Street in Prospect Lefferts Gardens,
Brooklyn. Stunning sculptures by Zimbabwe’s best established and emerging sculptors will be
available at affordable prices. All proceeds benefit CAMBA’s comprehensive programs and services
for 45,000 individuals and families citywide.

The public Shona sale is free and
takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 27 – 29, from 1 pm to 6 pm each day. For more

Each year, the Annual Shona Benefit Sale Reception honors those who help CAMBA fulfill its
mission to provide services that connect people with opportunities to enhance their quality of life.
This year’s honoree is Gina Argano.
Gina Argano is co-founder of Look Good Feel Gorgeous, an inspirational and motivational clothing line,
as well as a dance and fitness instructor and a personal trainer. Her philosophy is to inspire people to
live healthy, positive lives through fitness and to motivate people to achieve what they once viewed as
impossible.
She is also a philanthropist, most recently sharing her generosity with homeless and low-income
children served by a variety of CAMBA programs. During the holiday season, she spearheaded toy drives
that brought smiles of delight to 275 children in our Healthy Families program and hosted a party that
included a Christmas tree, music, games and food for the children and their parents.
Gina also played Santa to 119 homeless children in our Flagstone Family Center, raising support to
purchase gifts and gift cards for them. Altogether, Gina worked with her business contacts and friends to
collect almost 1, 500 gifts for CAMBA’s young clients in 2014, and she plans to renew her toy drive this
year.
CAMBA is proud to honor Gina Argano for her commitment to health and to bringing joy to children in
need.
About Shona Sculpture
Since 1991, CAMBA has showcased an extensive collection of Shona sculptures from Zimbabwe, a
country in southern Africa whose name literally means “house of stone.” Whether abstract or
realistic in form, the sculptures reflect the deeply-held spiritual beliefs, folklore and daily life of
Zimbabwe’s largest ethnic group. Using skills passed down through generations, the artists use
simple chisels “to release the spirits of the stone.” Shona sculptures can be found in the collections of
discerning museums and collectors worldwide.
Sales of these sculptures provide Shona artists with a viable outlet for their work, while also giving
CAMBA a fundraising opportunity for its own vital programs and services in communities across New
York City.
