to the generous hearts of our
readers to make the Love Darg
Appeal 2013 a resounding
success. Help the British Red
Cross by making a blanket or
scarf and donating it to them.
2 x 100g balls of Hayfield Baby
Chunky in Tufty (M), and Cream
(C).
One pair 6.5 mm (No. 3) and
5.5 mm (No. 5) knitting needles

11 sts and 20 rows to 7.5 cm x 10 cm
measured over pattern on 6.5 mm
needles.

BLANKET
To Make
With 6.5 mm needles and M, cast
on 90 sts and work 4 rows in g-st.
★★ Change to C.
1st row – K1, ★K2tog, K2, knit into
front and back of each of the next
2 sts, K3, SKPO, rep from ★ to last
st, K1.
2nd row – Purl.
3rd to 6th row – Rep 1st and 2nd
rows twice.
With M, work 5 rows in g-st.
12th row – Knit.
Rep from ★★ 10 times more. With
C, rep 1st to 6th rows once.
Next row – With M, K1, ★K2tog,
K2, knit into front and back of each
of the next 2 sts, K3, SKPO, rep
from ★ to last st, K1.
With M, work 4 rows in g-st. Cast off
knitways.
Side Edging (Both alike)
With 5.5 mm needles and M, pick
up and knit 3 sts evenly along g-st,
99 sts evenly along side edge and
3 sts evenly along g-st – 105 sts.
Work 4 rows in g-st. Cast off
knitways.
To Complete
Cover with damp cloths and leave
until dry. See ball-band for
washing and further care
instructions.

Using thumb method cast on 22 sts.
1st row – K2, ★K2tog, yf, rep from ★ to last 2 sts, K2.
2nd row – K2, purl to last 2 sts, K2.
3rd row – K2, ★yf, SKPO, rep from ★ to last 2 sts, K2.
4th row – K2, purl to last 2 sts, K2.
Rep the last four rows until work measures 70 cm, ending after a
wrong-side row. Cast off knitways. Join cast-on and cast-off edges.
Cover with a damp cloth and leave until dry. ■

1st row – ★P1, K3, rep from ★ to last st, P1.
2nd row – K1, ★K1, P1, K2, rep from ★ to end.
Repeat the last two rows until the yarn has been used, leaving
enough to cast off and ending after a wrong-side row. Cast off in
pattern. Pin out to the measurements given. Cover with damp
cloth and leave until dry. ■
