You are invited to participate in Cañada College's 2015 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 10:00 AM. The Ceremony will take place outside of Building 9 on the Upper Lawn. Commencement marks the culmination of your academic achievements and is a significant milestone in your life’s journey. To participate in the Commencement Ceremony, graduates must: □ RSVP to Commencement Complete the online Commencement RSVP form BEFORE 11:59 PM on Friday, May 22 nd. The form is available at: http://canadacollege.edu/commencement/commencementrsvp.php □ Go to Rehearsal Attend Commencement Rehearsal Friday, May 29th at 2:00 PM on the Upper Lawn near Building 9. □ Buy Your Regalia You must wear a dark green cap, gown, and gold tassel to the commencement ceremony. These items will be available in the Cañada College Bookstore during the second week of May. The combined cost of the academic attire and tassel is approximately $42.00 plus tax. Commencement is for Cañada College students who have completed their course work for an A.A., A.S. Degree or Certificate during Summer 2014, Fall 2014 and Spring 2015. You must have completed the petition for graduation. Do graduates need to RSVP to participate in Commencement? Yes, students who plan to participate in the Commencement Ceremony need to submit their RSVP form to http://canadacollege.edu/commencement/ commencementrsvp.php before 11:59pm on Friday, May 22. Where can I buy my cap, gown, and tassel and how much will it cost? Beginning the second week in May, graduates can purchase the complete academic attire and tassel in the Bookstore. The estimated cost is $45.00 plus tax. Announcements will also be available for sale. Are tickets required to attend Commencement? No. If it rains, however, tickets will be required and the ceremony will move into the Gym/Building 1. An email with ticket details will be sent to you two weeks before the ceremony if it looks like it will rain. When and where can I pick up my extra-curricular sash (For example TRIO, EOPS, ASCC, PTK)? Check in with your program director. DAY BEFORE COMMENCEMENT Is there a rehearsal? Yes. The Commencement rehearsal will take place Friday, May 29, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Upper Lawn near Building 9. Graduates are strongly recommended to attend. The purpose of rehearsal is to practice the processional and answer any last minute questions. COMMENCEMENT DAY Where and what time does the Ceremony start and end? The Ceremony will begin at 10:00 A.M. outside of Building 9 in the Upper Lawn. Guests can begin arriving at 9:00 A.M. The Ceremony is scheduled to end by 12:00 P.M. Do graduates need to Check-In on the day of Commencement? Yes. All graduates MUST check-in at 9:00 A.M in The Grove (Cafeteria), Building 5, rain or shine, dressed in your cap, ironed gown, and tassel. There you’ll receive your specialized commencement card to participate. Will there be a place where I can leave my belongings? No. All personal belongings should be left in the car or with a family members. Do I have to stay for the whole ceremony? Yes. All graduates are expected to stay for the duration of the ceremony—which will be APPROXIMATELY TWO HOURS. Where can guests park on the day of the Commencement? Parking will be available in all student lots. Parking is free. When are diplomas mailed out to graduates? All graduates, even if you do not participate in the ceremony, will receive your diplomas in the mail starting late September.
