The members Stable Management (SM) level will be used to determine a member’s Quiz
level.

A level or less can be any PC member in good standing.
Less than B level can be any PC member in good standing.
Less than C level and must be 13 years of age or less.
10 years and up untested, not competed at quiz before, 1st or 2nd
year at pony club
E and D level (NOT D1 or D2) must also be 9 years of age or less.
Members
This is an Alberta South regional event and therefore each contestant must be a pony
club member of good standing at time of entry registration. DC’s can only sign off for
their club members only.
Teams
Teams will be made up of 3-4 individuals with the 3 best individual scores used to
calculate the team score. Singles can enter and teams of two and we will do our best to
find team mates. Teams will be made up of 4 Members per team for Snurf through to
Intermediate levels. Senior can stay at 3 to 4 Members per team and we can drop a
score. A club may enter as many teams in each level as they like.
Three basic components of quiz:

30 marks -individual
30 marks -team
Team score
Equals - Written test, Visual ID and Games
The first two elements are individual efforts and as such contestants will be penalized
for their first infraction if they attempt to communicate during the tests, if the receive a
second infraction they will be eliminated.
Cell phones, I pods, I pads, Tablets or other electronic devices are not allowed in the
competition rooms. Use of these devices will receive the same penalty as
unsportsmanlike conduct. This includes the chaperone. Any unsportsmanlike behavior,
disrespect towards other contestants, volunteers, officials or the facility by a contestant
or their parent will incur immediate elimination and removal from the facility. Entry
fee will not be refunded.
Written test
The knowledge base tested may include any information from required or resource
materials indicated for that Pony Club test level in the Pony Club Testing procedures.
General wording of questions will be age and level appropriate and may include
Canadian Pony Club information and acronyms, abbreviations, discipline rules and
stable management. Please note that the British and U.S. manuals will be used as a final
reference and therefore in cases where different answers are givens, those from these
manuals will be accepted as correct. The written can include but not limited to multiple
choice, true and false, short and long answer questions.
Visual Identification
This can also include any information from required or resource reading indicated for
that quiz level. Testing items may include – Canadian Pony club information and
items, English, western, racing tack, riding apparel, horse care items, veterinary items
and feeds. Intermediate and senior will also include the following;

Games
Games are designed to promote team spirit and cooperation. In all games conferring
and encouragement are essential. All games have equal weighting and so contribute to
the final team mark. As we do not anticipate large numbers of senior entries, they will
join in the intermediate games competing within their own group. All games are timed
and may take up to 10 minutes.

To give PC members from Alberta south region an opportunity to demonstrate
their knowledge of horses in a competitive medium
To gather PC members from across the region in to a fun, social and interactive
group.
To prepare and select members for National Quiz from intermediate and senior
level only.
Volunteers
One adult volunteer per team or partial team is required for the smooth running
of the day. Please fill in the name of the volunteer on the entry form. No team or
partial team will be accepted without a volunteer. Jobs will be emailed to the
club contact on the Wednesday before quiz. Any changes to the volunteer job
assignments are the responsibility of the individual. Any non-showing volunteer
jeopardize their club being able to participate in the day. No refunds will be
given.
Readers
Any member that needs help with reading must have a volunteer reader named
for each child needing help. These readers will be put in a pool and will help
members from other clubs.
Team Leader
In addition, Snurf, Entry and Junior teams will each have an adult team leader to
ensure that they find and complete all components of the quiz. Those
accompanying the teams will not be allowed to assist participants.

All entries must be received by March 14th 2015
Cost:
$25 dollars per person (this includes lunch)
Late Entries:
$35 dollars per person
There will be a Concession on site.
