Helping Hands is an ongoing partnership

3/2015
The CTRC Council is a volunteer, nonprofit
organization that exists to support the Cancer
Therapy and Research Center (CTRC) at the
UT Health Science Center San Antonio. The
CTRC is dedicated to providing the highest
quality cancer treatment, research, education,
and support services to thousands of patients.
It is the only National Cancer Institute
designated Cancer Center in South Texas and
treats more than 3,000 new cancer patients
a year.
One of the ways that the CTRC Council
supports the CTRC is through the Helping
Hands program. Because of the financial
burden faced by cancer patients, many are
unable to afford necessary items such as
nutritional supplements, transportation,
lodging and medications, as well as other
supplies that would provide comfort during
treatment (faith-based items, snacks, mouth
and skin care products, reading material, etc.).
The CTRC Counil requests in-kind donations
from generous businesses and individuals and
transports the items to the CTRC’s Patient
and Family Services staff to be distributed to
patients in need.
