14 April 2015 Mr Greg Doyle Chief Executive Officer Australian Canoeing Via email: [email protected] Dear Greg, Re: Rio 2016 Paralympic Games – Team Leaders Our preparations for Rio are well advanced and we are continuing to develop the optimal performance environment for every potential athlete on the Australian Team in 2016. This work extends to every staff member on the Paralympic Team. A critical role in the delivery of a successful Games Team is the position of Team Leader, previously known as Section Manager. Each sport within the overall Team is required to have a Team Leader. This role is critical in ensuring the individual sport section can function seamlessly within the overall team and in the Paralympic Games environment. Due to the importance of this role and the need to work closely with APC operational staff in the lead up to and during the Games, the APC is now calling for sports to make nominations for their Team Leaders. The APC requests that a primary and secondary candidate is put forward for this role. The secondary candidate is only a back up if the primary nominee is unable to attend the Games. A nomination form is attached. As a final step before confirming Team Leader appointments, the APC will meet with the primary candidate to outline the APC’s expectations. Process timeline: 1. Paralympic specific streams will continue to be presented within the Campaign Rio Forum. These presentations are to ensure that Team Leaders and other key decision makers within your sport are clear on their roles and are provided with relevant information on Games preparations.
