From The Principal…
Welcome back to Term 2 – it promises to be a busy and
exciting term!
School Council subcommittees - Belonging to School
Council subcommittee is a way to be involved in the
school and School Council activities without requiring the
commitment of full Council membership. Many parents
enter School Council after time on sub committees when
they feel more confident about what is involved.
Obviously it is not for all parents, however for those who
are interested, most find it an extremely insightful and
rewarding way to understand, support and have input
into the school. The following subcommittees include
additional
parent
representatives:
Community
Engagement, Education, Buildings & Grounds, Art Show
and eLearning. These groups hold one or two meetings
per term and report back to the nine annual School
Council meetings (twice a term with an additional
December meeting). If you are interested in joining any
other School Council subcommittees please email me.
Art Exhibition - The transformation of the school will
commence next week as we move towards becoming an
amazing art gallery over the weekend of 1-3 May. Again
it promises to be an exciting event with the usual quality
of artists keen to show their work at our school. The
Canterbury Art Exhibition is a significant community
building event as well as being the school’s major
fundraiser. Thank you to the Art Show committee for their
thorough organisation and meticulous planning. Please
make some time to come along and view the show with
your family.
Staff news - Farewell to Tess Wearing who finishes with
us today to take up a position at St Michael’s Grammar
School. We thank Tess for her many contributions over
her 5 years at CPS and particularly ensuring new parents
and students are warmly welcomed into our community.
Best wishes on this exciting new opportunity. Farewell
also to Teresa Flynn and Jo Earle who commence family
leave this week. Welcome to Kira Groves who replaces
Jo Earle in Year 5 and to Christopher Yoos who will be
sharing the Art room with Anne Bialecki. Anne will take
Foundation to Year 4 classes and Christopher will take
Year 5, 6 and two Year 4 classes. Thankyou to Jo Earle
and Teresa Flynn for their thorough organisation to ensure a smooth handover and continuation of learning programs.
Best wishes to everyone for an exciting and productive
term 2.

ladies who meet ‘informally’ for coffee once a term and
‘formally’ once a term with the Parent Coordinator
meeting…not too time consuming! Please contact
